Mommy and Me Looks

In Kids by Guest WriterLeave a Comment

Becoming a mom has been an absolute dream come true. While motherhood is not always easy —cue sleepless nights and toddler tantrums — I feel so blessed to be the mom of such a sweet little girl. I have a best friend for life and my own real-life doll to dress!

I love styling my little girl, Elle, in pieces I would wear, with a more cutesy twist of course — think brighter colours and more comfortable fabrics. Her wardrobe is a fun mix of classic and ultra-feminine, with trendy and edgy. I have always loved experimenting with my own style and now have so much fun creating mommy and me looks for us to wear.

When I see a piece that I love, like an embroidered leather jacket, I’m inspired to find something similar for my little girl. Other times, I’ll find inspiration in children’s clothes and am determined to find something similar for myself.

The key to mommy and me fashion, though, is not dressing exactly the same. Simply stay with the same theme, trend, colours, or fabrics. Below are some of my favourite mommy and me looks to get you and your little one ready for summer!

Floral maxis are everything this season. They’re the perfect go-to for hot summer days when you want to stay cool and in vogue. Meanwhile, shoe designers everywhere have been drawing inspiration from the music festival season, coming out with gorgeous gladiator sandals in a variety of neutral shades. Pair these two looks and bring the festival vibes right into your home!

Seeing Stars

The stars have come out in full force this season! From sneakers to printed sweatpants, you can now go star-gazing in your own closet. You and your mini don’t have to wait until its dark out to shine like stars with these fun and feminine sundresses! Pair them with all-white sneakers and head out for a picnic in the park.

Afternoon tea

Dressing up with your little one can be so much fun — especially when you find stunning mommy and me tutus! This season, many designers took cues from the ballet studio, with lace-up shoes and bodysuits being spotted on shelves everywhere. Try this off-duty ballerina look, so you and your mini will be ready to head to a summer garden party, afternoon tea, or host a princess party at home! What’s great is these tutus come in so many fun colours! Elle and I especially love the the skirt in white, paired with a bodysuit in this season’s hottest colour; blush. Add a great nude heel for you, and a ballet flat for your princess.

To take this look from day to night, try wearing this skirt in black, with a black or white bodysuit and a statement necklace! Feel free to throw on a cool leather jacket for an edgier vibe.

Get the look on mom: Knee length tulle skirt, full length tulle skirt, bodysuit, nude sandals.

For your LO: Leotard with ruffle, tulle skirtmary jane flat OR ballet flats.
