Spring Hair Care Solutions for Static, Frizz & Flyaways

In Beauty by Kate Bayless1 Comment

Anyone else suffering from crazy spring weather? Hot and dry one day, windy the next. Then rain. Then cold. Finally, back to hot again. All this weather flip-flopping leaves my hair looking less than stellar at times. Whatever your hair type, we know you’re battling spring hair, too. From static to split ends, frizz to flyaways, here are solutions to your springtime hair woes.

Solve Spring Hair Woes

Static, split ends, frizz and flyaways all share two things in common. 1) Nobody likes them. 2) Lack of moisture causes and/or accentuates them. However, getting moisture onto your hair can be trickier than it seems. Not enough moisture and you may end up suffering from one of our aforementioned springtime hair foes. Too much — or the wrong type for your hair — and you’re left with a flat, oily, albeit moisturized mane. So whether you have fine hair and need just a touch a moisture or thicker hair and can handle a hefty dose, here are three moisturizing hair care products to add to your routine.

Fine hair moisture solution: Garnier Fructis Moisture Lock 10-in-1 Rescue Spray

Thin hair is prone to static and flyways, but too much moisture can easily burden your strands. So ladies like me with lightweight locks need a hair moisturizer that packs a powerful punch without weighing us down. The new Garnier Fructis Moisture Lock 10-in-1 Rescue Spray fits the bill. The leave-in spray relies on cactus extract, which helps to provide 48-hours of moisture for your hair. In addition to moisture, the spray also smoothes, adds shine, softens, detangles, controls frizz, helps protect from heat damage, helps prevent breakage, freshens, and boosts manageability. And all for about $5. Bye-bye flyaways! Hello, soft moisturized hair.

Thin-medium hair moisture solution: Oribe Supershine Moisturizing Cream

If your hair is a little thicker and can handle a bit more product, the Oribe Supershine Moisturizing Cream promises it “satisfies the thirstiest hair, calming frizz, elevating shine and restoring hair to supernatural softness.” Umm, yes please! The luxurious leave-in conditioning cream relies in part on soy protein biopolymers to battle frizz and wheat amino acids to help hair retain moisture. Even though I have fairly thin hair, my hair dresser used a little but of this on me recently. I fell in love with the smell and how it made my hair feel. She also told me I could use it on days when I don’t wash my hair. I spray dry shampoo on my roots to absorb oil and add lift and apply this Oribe cream on my ends to add moisture and style.

Medium-thick hair moisture solution: Kérastase Aura Botanica Essence d’Éclat Moisturizing Oil Mist

If you have medium to think hair, you can add moisture back into your hair with a combination of four highly moisturizing oils – jojoba, avocado, coconut and argan – that are found in the Kérastase Aura Botanica Essence d’Éclat Moisturizing Oil Mist. After shaking the product well, you have two application options. Spray the oil mist directly onto your hair for a serious dose of moisture. For a lighter touch, spray onto your hands and then apply through the hair. The oil mist can also be used as a touch-up during the day when your hair is extra thirsty.

This product says that it is a “lightweight oil-spray”, but it is a combo of some pretty heavy-hitting oils. Spraying directly onto my strands was too heavy for my hair. However, I love that this product relies on so many botanical, good-for-the-body oils and smells divine. I’m going to try it sprayed on to my hands or as a kind of overnight deep moisturizing mask.

What’s your favorite way to battle frizz, flyaways and static?
