Mom Approved Tween Girl Swimsuits

It finally hit 70 degrees here in Minnesota! We were so anxious to shed our Winter coats, hats and boots and hit the stores for for new Spring and Summer fashions. We filled bags with dresses, shorts, tank tops and sandals. We are so ready to get some sun.

The pools will be open in the next few weeks, so it’s also time to grab a few swimsuits to get us ready for pool, beach and sun!

Let me just say right now that I am not a prude, nor do I have an issue with a bikini on a young girl or tween girl.  I say you need to buy, and your girls should wear what you all are comfortable wearing. I always wore a bikini as a little girl and I sometimes wear one know. However, my daughters have never expressed an interest in them as I think they are more comfortable with a suit that doesn’t have ties and covers a little more so they don’t spend time pulling at it to keep covered or watching their top come off after a dive off the board.

There are some great bikinis that I found that don’t have tie straps that both my daughters tried on this year, but they both ended up wanting tankinis again as I think they are just more comfortable in them when they don’t have to worry about it coming off or messing with lots of ties…and a tankini still has the convenience of being a two-piece suit for easy bathroom visits and changing on the run!

Here are some of the suits we found this year that my tween daughters love and I completely approve of… tween-tankini-swimsuits

This Gap neon chevron strip tankini has beading at the ties, cute ruffles, and a great halter style. Justice red polka-dot tankini. I Love the retro styling and cute dot pattern. Neon, patterns, disco and funky can only describe this awesome suit from P.S. Aeropostale. No wonder my 8 year old loves it. I also love the look of this surf suit from Mini Boden, also available at Nordstroms. The boy shorts provide a little more coverage and comfort and awesome style.

Gap assemetrical off the shouler one piece has great colors, style and floral pattern. A little more grown-up with more coverage. I love the rainbow colors and animal print of this standard one piece from P.S. Aeropostale. I love the stripes and halter style of this Limeapple one piece suit at Nordstroms. You cannot go wrong with a limited edition suit from Diane Von Furstenberg for Gap. I love her exclusive collection and the price is sure right!

What style swimsuit do you love – are you a bikini, tankini, surf suit or one piece girl?
