With Memorial weekend behind us I think it is safe to say, let the summer and outdoor entertaining season begin. Bring on the hot days and long summer nights! I love this time of year, when unexpected neighbors stop by and impromptu backyard parties just organically happen. When planning and hosting summer backyard BBQ’s and special events it’s nice to brighten up your backyard or party with a few colorful accents.
Outdoor Lighting
Lighting is key. Once the sun goes down you do not want to be left in the dark so placing candles and lanterns on the tables are great for mood lighting, but sometimes you may need a bit more. I love this outdoor floor lamp for extra lightening for an event or for some night time reading with a glass of wine. I absolutely love this table top fire pit which makes a perfect centerpiece. You may want more than one!
Outdoor Seating
Colorful chairs, cushions and pillows. The easiest way to add a pop of color is by adding some accent pillows, they’ll make any outdoor seating a bit more festive. These pillows can even be used in a teens room or family room during the rest of the year. New cushions will not only look good put provide a more comfortable seat for your guests. And should you need more seating, buy some colorful chairs, not only are they pretty but practical too. Don’t buy all the same color, mix it up a bit.
Dress it up with drinks, dishes and decor
Pitchers – Clear glass pitchers are like white serving bowls and dishes, you can never have too many. The clear pitcher lets people easily see what is inside wether it’s pink lemonade, ice tea, water or margaritas and naturally adds even more color! Whenever you find a unique or fun bowl you should buy it, like this watermelon bowl. Whats not to love about a watermelon bowl. It needs no explanation really. Sometimes all you need are a few small touches like these fun serving utensils or some great new glassware.

It’s also incredible how much of a difference cleaning and sealing your deck can have. There is actually a special type of sealant that is a wood brightener, and restores your wood deck to very close to it’s natural color. The results can make a huge difference to the aesthetic appeal of your back yard! Just something to consider 🙂
