Fourth of July BBQ

In Living by Sherry2 Comments

The Fourth of July is a time for family and friends to come together and celebrate with fireworks, parades and great food. It seems like as American’s we all have the same ideas of what Independence day should consist of. The first thing that comes to my mind is a potluck barbeque with a few Fourth of July favorite menu items such as hotdots, hamburgers and potato salad and let’s not forget the American staple apple pie.

Whether you are planning your gathering at home, the beach or a local park, there is always a good amount of preparation involved. The easiest way to a successful party is to get everything organized the days before so you are not running around last minute trying to fill in the food gaps based on what your guests have contributed. I like to use Evite and add “what will you bring” with a list of food items to the invitation. That way there is sure to be buns for those hot dogs and beer for the cooler. This is also useful in avoiding duplicates and to ensure that there will be enough food to go around. Make a note on your invitation to have guests label their dish so you know who to return it to when the party is over. This will be most helpful during clean up time.

Now that you have all the details for your fantastic soiree planned it’s time to sport your festive red, white and blue fashion.  Forget the cheesy t-shirts and flip-flops make your patriotic statement with a navy dress or top and red accents. It’s sure to be unforgettable.

Wishing you all a safe and happy 4th of July!
