This past weekend I was able to get my son Hudson off the ipad and stop playing Minecraft to actually build something in real life! My husband helped him put together his very first Eitech construction toy. The company contacted me to see if I would be interested in reviewing one of their construction sets and this opportunity grabbed my attention because it is difficult to find quality gifts for boys ages 7 – 13, so I wanted to source something that could be shared with all of you.
My son loves building LEGOS and playing MineCraft but I thought this might be more of a challenging project for him. I also thought that this was something my husband and son could do together, you know, for some male bonding time.
I also loved the fact that these toys are made in Germany, which struck a cord with me as I am German and my Dad LOVED cars and building things. I think he would have probably enjoyed building this with Hudson if he was still here, but I believe he was watching them build it from above.
I chose the Eitech Classic Jeep Construction Set since we are in Costa Rica and my husband just bought a 1977 Toyota Landcruiser, I thought it was perfect. What I love the most about these is that you can pick them up and move them, my son can “play” with it without it falling apart like the LEGO sets. It’s also a very cool looking piece of art and room decor. This sitting on his night stand somehow looks stylish and not just a toy that wasn’t put away. There are actually three different ways to build this particular jeep and it came with additional wings, and Hudson just had to put those on too.
They also have a variety of other things to build like the Eiffel Tower and Seattle Space Needle. Building isn’t just for boys either. I secretly want to help build the Ferris Wheel construction set!
Most of these sets are for age 8 years and older. My son is 7 and his Dad needed to help him build this, he was not able to do this on his own, but for us that was a good thing. You can find Eitech toys and construction sets on Amazon and Toys R Us. The average prices for the classic models are $29.99 to $59.99. The large exclusive sets can be around $300.
These make really great gifts for holidays and Birthdays, definitely not the plastic junk that will break a week later.
Disclosure: I was sent an Eitech set for review. All my savvy thoughts and sassy opinions are my own. I share this with you because I truly think these are a valuable toy and great gifts.

OMG! Those look awesome!! I have 2 boys and think they would totally get into that (little engineers that they are). I think this would be a good 8th birthday gift (which is coming up real soon.). Thank you for sharing your experience, Andrea.
What a great challenging activity that would be for kiddos and parents alike!
That looks very cool!
