wendy bellissimo tentDesigner Wendy Bellissimo and her husband and business partner Joe opened their Los Angeles-area home to guests and media last week for a sneak peek of their newest baby clothing, layette and nursery line for JCPenney. The intimate Champagne brunch was a wonder of rustic retro decor and themed activity to match the classic styles for babies newborn to 24 months.

The brunch fare on offer was tastefully presented, featuring the fresh menu creations of local catering company and bistro Blue Table. The bar poured delectable concoctions of Champagne and bitters, with a featured cocktail called French 75.

Everything from indulgent infant clothing to formal wear for your 2-year-old is up for grabs this season, a crowd favorite being the little girl’s black and red rosette party dress. Even the boys’ fashions are charming and adorable with their jaunty derby caps and tweed vests.

I was told that my handwriting reveals meticulous attention to detail (and a penchant for adorable little girls’ dresses). No surprises there!

Bellissimo chatted with guests and media alike, her wide trademark smile present at every moment. She stressed that she always wants to create stylish products that hold their value while still being affordable — and she confessed that she uses her own diaper bag design as a carry-on while traveling, even though her four girls aren’t babies anymore! Stylish enough to serve as a handbag or camera bag, but super functional for parents of babies — the built-in stroller clips are a brilliant touch — these diaper bags will no doubt appeal to all types of parents.

Wendy Bellissimo’s line of nursery decor, baby clothes, furniture and accessories is available online and in JCPenney stores.
