The very first event I took in while I was in New York City for BlogHer 2012 was to get a sneak peak at the Holiday collection for  The Children’s Place  This event was hosted by Nicole Feliciano of Momtrends and took place at the fashionable Bryant Park Hotel.  It may have been 90 degrees and humid outside but from the moment you walked in you felt the chill of this winter wonderland of children’s fashion.  I noticed all the faux fur immediately and then I was blinded by all the holiday sparkle!  This holiday season be prepared for the glitz and glam for all the little girls in your life.  My favorite item for the girls were the black sparkle boots, totally biker chic.  A big trend I saw for for boys was bright, bold and funky plaids.  I noticed a lot of vests too, perfect for layering and dressing up any look.  Hats were another hot item for both boys and girls and it looks like it’ll be another winter of Critter Hats still being all the rage!

The partying and networking stopped for a few moments so Nicole could introduce us all to the The Children’s Place designer, Michael Giannelli.  Michael and his design team typically are a year ahead scouting for trends, which usually means a lot of travel over to Europe.  He designed this holiday collection wit ha snow day in mind.  What would children wear if school was canceled and they were heading outside for a fun day of play.  Even though they also have a very chic winter white palette of neutrals happening this holiday season they have not lost the color that The Children’s Place is known for.  “Color is our DNA”.

Michael and his team are currently working on Spring and Summer 2013 and for a little inside scoop – it gets even brighter with neon still right on trend.
