We said hello to spring (finally!) My days of shopping for winter jackets, mitt clips and snow pants are o-v-e-r! As we transition from winter to spring, my kids’ fashion will be about lightening up the palette as well as the weight of their clothing. I want to make sure that when I send them off to school in the morning with a chill in the air, they’re still dressed appropriately for the afternoon recess weather that will have them shedding layers.
This spring is all about patterns and bright colors in kids fashion. This trend overwhelms someone like me, who’s used to the ease of mixing and matching grey, white and black. Here are some easy ways to integrate the trends into your kids style.
For the little lady in your life
Don’t stray too far from a comfortable look for you and your child, but find a way to make a statement with their style. In my house, we are all about the shoes. Look at our feet to find a POW in our style!
Keep it simple and light with a comfortable NuNuNu sweatshirt and a drawstring denim pants. My favorite are the Hashtag High Tops that come in toddler and kids sizes. They are unique DIY patch sneakers. No matter the age, your kids will have fun changing their patches daily to match their outfits! Each pair comes with 30 patches. It doesn’t get better than this!
For a lighter spring look, try this Peek Hombre hoodie and pair it with Splatter paint leggings from the GAP. Throw a dark denim jacket or a leather jacket on top for the chilly morning temperatures. Our favorite part of the outfit is the shoes! I love Sam Edelman, and you know what they say, like mother like daughter! The Fuzzy Shoe is perfect for my little girls big personality!
For your little Heartbreaker
After a long winter, I am sick of the same old sweatshirts and boots! After all those days spent inside a kindergarten classroom, my son’s pants are starting to fade at the knees. I get not wanting to wear anything but sweats under his snow pants each day, but I am so excited to see his style change with the weather!
Tops with quotes are all the rage, which is why I love this Keep on Truckin’ t-shirt. We’ve been wearing the matching sweatshirt for months now! These tapered pants are a bit more casual than jeans and are perfect for a day in the classroom or a day at the park. I don’t know about your boys, but mine constantly runs his shoes into the ground! This light Adidas runner will serve well as a weekend shoe in my house making his outfits look fresh and crisp.
No matter how hard I try, we can’t completely get away from the super heros in our fashion! The closer he gets to learning how to read, the easier it is to get him on board with shirts that have superhero sayings. “I Rule The City” is one he certainly agrees with! We are keeping the patches on the pants for our boys look this season. Bright and checkered slip on sneakers make a statement and help get us out of the house quickly in the morning!
