National Blueberry Month
Did you know that July is national blueberry month? Did you also know that not only are blueberries America’s 2nd favorite berry (it’s a close second only behind strawberries) but that they are also vitamin and nutrient rich? Those yummy blueberries are also a well known antioxidant, a great source of A and are a perfect low calorie snack! So before the month is over you better get your blueberry on. I love blueberries, they are the perfect low calorie snack that you can just keep popping in your mouth.
Healthy Blueberry Snacks
While blueberry pancakes and blueberry muffins are among the most popular to cook with blueberries, during the hot summer those might be a little too heavy so I suggest making the kids a blueberry smoothie or handing them one of the brand new Mighty 4 nutritional pouches form Plum Organics. The Mighty 4 pouches are made with a variety of fruit, vegetables, grains and greek yogurt, giving it a powerful 4 pack punch. I also love the apple blueberry granola from Back to Nature for an easy morning bowl of goodness or the Luna Bars to throw in your purse for on the go.
You don’t have to just eat your blueberries but you can also find these powerful antioxidants in a variety of beauty products so you can get the health benefits from head to toe and inside and out. Nivea Powerfruit shower gel, Say Yes to Carrots has a line of Say Yes to Blueberries which includes an eye cream I am dying to try and also a popular UK brand I love Blueberry & Smoothie has a line dedicated to blueberries.
If you are in the baking mood or can’t resist your sweet tooth then try these Lemon Blueberry Cupcakes for a special summer treat!
