Recently, I sought out the best in Chicago spas and discovered several gems! As a mom of two, a spa visit is a genuine escape, time that is just for me. Me-time is a rare occurrence in the life of any mother. With spa treatments that cater to the mind, body, and soul, you will find one that speaks to you. When you do, I urge you to take the plunge and make that appointment. These are four of my favorite Chicago spas and what makes each one unique!
The spacious Kohler Waters Spa in Chicago is the best choice for those looking for a total spa experience. The therapeutic benefits of water are the focus here. As a Pisces, this spa felt like home to me! The menu of services is extensive and includes massage therapies, energy therapies, facials, hydrotherapy treatments and more.
Upon arrival I was guided to the locker rooms which are stocked with all the amenities and fabulous Kohler showers. After donning slippers and a luxurious robe, I enjoyed the large relaxation area with chaise lounges, snacks, and drinks. With many staff members on hand, Kohler Waters Spa definitely has a handle on making guests feel at ease and relaxed.
After a few minutes of peaceful reflection, I was escorted to enjoy the Citrus Reviver, one of the newest hydrotherapy body treatments. I enjoyed an ultra-pampering full body exfoliation scrub which used cool elements, all while under warm Vichy shower sprays. If there were one spa treatment in the world I wish I could recreate at home, this is it! There is something about the cool scrub under a warm spray that is just undeniably soothing. The 50-minute service ends with a cool-stone eye treatment, facial massage, and citrus moisturizer. Bliss! Afterwards, I headed to enjoy a shower and a lengthy visit to the Circle of Tranquility Room. I went from the whirlpool, to the steam room and back again.
WHY YOU SHOULD VISIT KOHLER:
All spa treatments include use of the Circle of Tranquility! You could visit for a pedicure and stay for the whirlpool, plunge pool, steam room, and sauna, utilizing it for as long as you want. This perk alone has me already planning my next visit to Kohler Waters Spa! I’d love to try one of the Kohler Bathing Treatments on a future visit.
Azul Holistic Spa in Chicago is a prime choice for those looking for a more intimate setting. The Ayurvedic experience is the focus at Azul. Ayurvedic medicine promotes good health and is practiced through ritual and music, aromatic essential oils, herbs and teas. The services offered includes healing therapies, massage, facials, and more.
After a short wait, I was escorted to a modest locker room complete with robe, slippers and showers. Once I donned my robe, I made my way to the Meditation Room. This dimly lit room sets the tone for ultimate relaxation. This was one of my favorite parts of my visit to Azul. Just a few minutes later, my massage therapist lead me to get started on the Marma Point Massage. I was impressed with the method of this massage which promotes good blood flow by stimulating the marma points. Increasing blood flow through these areas, which can clear obstructions between muscles, nerves and brain. What this translated to for me was feeling a release of tension, stress, and worry.
WHY YOU SHOULD VISIT AZUL:
After my massage, I was treated to a long chat about my specific issues discovered during my visit. My therapist even wrote out a “prescription” for an all natural healing drink and recipe for an at-home body treatment. Personalized service and attention to detail, combined with unique touches like the Meditation Room, make Azul Holistic Spa very memorable.
The expansive Jonathan Breitung Salon & Luxury Spa in Chicago is the premiere spot for those looking for experienced staff and impeccable service. No detail is too small and the focus is on truly personalized spa treatments at this stunning location. With a full service hair salon upstairs and spa down below, you will delight in the zen atmosphere. The owner, Jonathan, has taken great care noted in the Feng Shui he applied throughout. As I toured the spa and caught sight of Feng Shui accents like hidden coins I was intrigued. A believer in karma, I felt an instant connection to this spa! You will find an array of services available from facials, massage, and reflexology to mani/pedis and med spa treatments.
After my tour, I headed to slip into my spa robe and slippers. While lounging in the elegant spa lounge I was met by my aestheticism, Pamela, who escorted me to my facial with oxygen infusion treatment. After a double cleanse and a skin analysis, Pamela took great care to ask me about my skin. With her experience she was quickly able to gauge my concerns. I was impressed that the facial was truly personalized to my issues, using methods and products tailored to my needs. The oxygen infusion was probably my favorite part! Oxygen mixed with customized serums is piped through an airbrush-type system and is misted over the face. The oxygen pushes the products deep into the epidermis to plump, hydrate, and stimulate collagen. It felt amazing! Pamela went above and beyond to provide me with the perfect facial for my skin and left me with product recommendations for home as well. I went home with clear pores and skin that was more hydrated and plump.

The lovely Truex Bluex Salon in Chicago is a large facility that includes a full service salon, nail services, laser treatments, permanent cosmetics, massage and more.
Upon entry, I was greeted by pleasant staff in a quiet environment. Led downstairs to the spa, I had the chance to change into my spa robe and slippers. I was quickly whisked away to my 60-minute massage. With the help of oils, my massage therapist worked out my stress during my full body massage. I was especially happy that he took my advice and worked the longest on my neck and shoulder area, a trouble spot for many years. I appreciated the tranquil background music and that my therapist was very efficient and calming. On my way home, I felt renewed and ready to take on the rest of the day!
