Savvy Holiday Travel – Luggage For Kids

In Kids, Living, Travel by Tracy2 Comments

Over 43 million Americans will travel for the Thanksgiving holidays, and the majority of those traveling are families with small children. We are taking a road trip for the holiday and my biggest priority besides planning for bathroom stops is making sure that each of my kids has their own bag packed for the car ride. I want to make sure they each have what they need to make the trip easy for all of us.

My kids each have their own small piece of luggage that they use both for the car and on the plane – so we need a bag that is ‘kid sized’ for them to work as a carry-on or to fit next to them in the van..and of course still fits all of their necessities.

I love that so many companies now make kid-sized luggage and so many bags can also be personalized which is super fun and kids love!

How cool is this Superhero Batman Luggage from Pottery Barn Kids. They also have Star Wars and Spiderman to choose from! Yes please.

My daughter would love this Owl rolling bag from Pottery Barn Kids. It’s gorgeous and I love all of the pockets!

The Personalized Pilot Suitcases from Lillian Vernon are a great value with so many color combinations to choose from and you can have them personalized with your child’s name.

Winner for the most fun and cute bag EVER is the Zoo rolling luggage from Skip Hop. How can you ever choose between the ladybug or the bee. Oh wait – the dog! No, I want the Monkey!

Or something super fun for the kids from Disney – how about a Cars rolling case

Or Minnie Mouse!

And I love this retro VW rolling case from Target! Zoom zoom! Beep Beep!

Time to fill-up those bags! What to pack to keep your kids busy for that car ride or plane ride? Well I know you probably already have the iPad or DVD player and movies ready to go – but it’s great to have a bag stuffed full of your child’s favorite things for the trip. Here are some items that are always winners on trips for us…

1. Healthy snacks 2. A water bottle to keep hydrated 3. A treat or two(maybe for me too!) 4. Video games if you allow them(and don’t forget the headphones!) 5. A favorite lovey or stuffed animal 6. Craft and coloring items 7. Books! 8. Small toys  and or games to keep them busy.

What are your favorite travel trips for traveling with kids?
