While in New York over the summer we took the kids to the MOMA, because if you visit New York city in the summer you will need to find a few things to do inside. The city can get very hot and sticky. The MOMA is home to some very famous works of art by Frida Kahlo, Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso and Vincent Van Gogh and Claude Monet! While I was excited to see Starry Night I was equally excited to check out the special exhibit, The Century of the Child. This exhibit showcased juvenile products from 1900 – 2000 including things such as the very first car seat to the rubik cube along with award winning toys and children’s furniture. Unfortunately I was not allowed to take pictures inside the exhibit.
However, there was a giant Tripp Trapp Highchair from Stokke on display and we were encouraged to climb on and take a seat!
How many items designed for babies are actual objects of design?
The Tripp Trapp® chair, created in 1972 by thedesigner Peter Opsvik, has never been bettered. In 1972, revolution was a fact. Back then no one had seen anything like the Tripp Trapp®, and almost 40 years later it is still unique: the only child’s chair that can take you from baby to adult, keeping you secure and comfortable all the way.
The Stokke Tripp Trapp is an award winning high chair that grows with your child. In fact, the Stokke Tripp Trapp Highchair is a chair that won’t be outgrown because it can be used well into those teenage years and beyond. Designed to provide the correct ergonomic support when seated, the Stokke Tripp Trapp Highchair enables your child to sit at the family table and interact with you and other family members.
With unique adjustable features for the seat height, footrest height, seating depth and footrest depth, the Stokke Tripp Trapp Highchair adapts to your growing child to ensure comfortable seating at all times. The Stokke Tripp Trapp Highchair includes a 5-point safety harness, a wide seat and a footrest that fully adjusts for height and depth to promote balance and natural movement. The Stokke Tripp Trapp Highchair is for children ages 6 months old and weighing up to 300 pounds.
The Century of the Child exhibit is on display through November 5th.
