I’ve done a lot of things, I’ve been a lot of places, but one thing I have never done is Zip Line. So when I got the chance to go Ziplining with Navitat, I literally jumped at the chance! I was soooo excited to do this. I don’t have a bucket list per se and I prefer the term Life List, but if I had either, this would be on it. I didn’t hesitate for a second.
Navitat is a ziplining company that started in Ashville, North Carolina and just last year opened up in Wrightwood, California. Which is about 90 minutes north of Los Angeles nestled in the San Gabriel Mountains. This zipline course is incredible and absolutely breathtaking. If you think you’re just going to go up and zip through the trees a few times and come back down, think again. This is a 3 1/2 hour experience that exceeded my expectations and one that I will never forget. The course has 10 zip lines, 4 sky bridges and we even rappeled down the trees 3 times. I was on this expedition with some other Los Angeles writers and we became fast friends, cheering each other on.
Our guides were extremely knowledgeable and incredibly helpful. They gave us a full education not just about zip lining but the uniqueness of the course, the sustainability of the course, the mountain area we were lucky enough to spend the day in and an education of the trees! This wasn’t just about flying 300 feet up in the sky people. I loved every minute of it. The fresh air, the sun in my face and the adrenaline of launching myself off each platform. I definatly took a few moments to soak it all up. I took a moment to smile at my dad up in the sky. I knew he was watching and I could feel him enjoying the thrill ride with me.
I have to say this is one amazing gift to give someone. In fact, with Mother’s Day and Father’s Day right around the corner – this would be an AMAZING gift to give your spouse. Even better, do it together! A wedding anniversary perhaps!? Buy a Gift Certificate It would be a soulful experience to share, I promise. I was actually pleasantly surprised at the price of this amazing adventure…. $109 bucks and worth every penny.
Family Note: Thinking of taking the kids? Participants must be at least 10 years old AND weigh between 90 and 250 pounds. And no pregnant mama’s.
What to wear: Comfortable clothing and a jacket or pants with pockets, pockets that zip closed even better. Sunglasses that won’t slip off or are attached. Yes, feel free to bring your camera but at your own risk. I brought my phone so I could take pictures and tweet from the trees;)
Eat before you go: You’ll be on a 3 or 4 hour tour so fill up before you go. You could stash a granola bar in your pocket if you think you may need a little something along the way:)
