I love any opportunity to celebrate others, especially when they are tiny and new to the world. As a mom of three daughters, I was more than excited to learn that our family would soon have a little man added to the bunch. I have a nephew on the way!
The moment I decided to host a baby shower in honor of my sister-in-law, I knew I wanted to mustaches and bow ties in the theme. I could not wait to add blues and greens to my pink and frilly life.
Tips for planning a little man baby shower
I love to throw parties but find that it is incredibly easy to get sidetracked by all the décor options on Pinterest and in stores. This often leads to overspending. For this reason, I adamantly looked for ways to inexpensively create a memorable little boy baby shower. Here is how you can do the same:
Print the décor
Etsy has just about everything you need to host a successful party, including printable decor. Many designers offer downloads under $50 that include everything from the invitation to signs to bunting to thank you cards. All you have to do is print, cut and decorate.
Plan a simple, yet fitting menu
Create a menu that is filling and doesn’t break the bank. Consider your theme and include items that help you carry out your theme.
What would a little (or big) man want to eat at a party? My vote was barbecue! Beef brisket, pulled chicken, green beans and corn pudding kept guests at the shower satisfied and stretched more than anticipated.
Choose a tablescape and centerpieces with dual purposes
Once a party is over, the clean up committee typically trashes the decorations. So why not get as much use out of them as possible? Style the tableware and choose party favors that add to the décor. Create centerpieces with items the mom-to-be can use once the baby arrives, like diapers, or photo props for guests’ photos like I did.
Create unique shower games
Don’t bore the guests with typical baby shower games. Get creative and come up with your own activities and cool prizes. Our guests loved the Introduce Your SELFie game. You can print it to play at your next shower by downloading it for free here.
What has been the most unique theme you have seen at a baby shower?
