Fit Moms Pump up the Protein! {giveaway}

Okay Moms so you’ve fed your kids a healthy breakfast and you’ve packed their lunches with the perfect amount of love and nutrition, so what about you?

What are you fueling yourself up with to get through the day?

I know that I love it when I can just grab and go and if I do not have to dirty a dish, even better!  Which is why protein shakes and protein bars are always in our house and thrown into my handbag.  I have tried a lot of them and I go in phases of flavors and brands.  I don’t like protein bars or shakes that are loaded with too much sugar or high in fat.  I have a 10 gram rule.  No more than 10 grams of sugar and no more than 10 grams of fat.

I was recently sent a package of Premier Protein bars and shakes and well they’re pretty good!  They pass the 10 gram rule and they have no high fructose corn syrup.  They are available in Chocolate Peanut Butter, Double Chocolate Crunch, and Yogurt Peanut Butter Crunch.  The double chocolate crunch was my favorite.  The best part about both of these products was that they actually filled me up, like really filled me up.  I felt stuffed (but in a good way)  Sometimes shakes and bars leave you feeling hungry an hour later,  but not these!

I have been known to dump a protein shake in the blender with some fruit before so I loved finding out that I am not alone…. Premiere Protein  does it too!  Here are some of their protein shake recipes, if you want to get fancy!

1.  Muscle Monkey Frosty

  • 1 Banana peeled and frozen
  • 1 Premier Protein Chocolate Shake
  • 3 Tbsp Peanut Butter
  • Ice for volume

Directions: Break frozen banana into pieces, combine all ingredients in a blender and blend on high until lightly chunky. Scoop into large cup and serve with a spoon.
2.  High Protein Peppermint Mocha

  • 1 Premier Protein Chocolate Shake
  • 3 tsp sugar free chocolate syrup or topping
  • 1 serving instant coffee
  • 1/2 tsp peppermint extract, more or less to taste
  • (optional) 1 dollop of sugar free whip cream

Directions: Pour Premier Protein Chocolate shake and sugar free chocolate syrup or topping into a large microwave safe mug and microwave on high for approximately 45 seconds. Note, do not bring to a boil. Remove from microwave and add instant coffee and peppermint extract. Stir to combine. Optional topping, add a dollop of sugar free whip cream. Enjoy!

3.  Blended Peach Pie a la Mode

  • 1 Premier Protein Vanilla Shake
  •  1 cup unsweetened frozen peaches
  • 2 tsp sugar substitute like Stevia, more or less to taste
  • 1/8 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Pinch ground nutmeg
  • Pinch ground ginger
  • Ice for volume

Directions: Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend on high until creamy smooth. Pour into a dessert cup and savor this mid-afternoon treat!

4.  Protein Pancakes

1-1/2 cups whole wheat flour
3-1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 Premier Protein Vanilla Shake
1/2 cup skim milk
1 egg
2 Tbsp melted butter

Directions: In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.  Make a well in the center and pour in the milk, egg and melted butter, mix until smooth.  Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat.  Pour or scoop the batter into the griddle, using approximately ¼ cup for each pancake. Brown on both sides and serve hot.

  1. I do a lot of snacking to get me through the day – carrot sticks, fruit, the occasional granola bar. Anything quick, easy and kid friendly because my kids will most likely steal what I’m eating.

  2. I like Sassy Savvy Moms on Facebook as Addison Kat

  3. I do alot of snacking as well; however, my snack choices have not always been the best-and i end up hungry an hour or two later. I’ve consciously tried to improve by having snacks with more protein, such as nuts or frozen greek yogurt.
