Minons- In Theaters July 10

“Ba-nan-a!” They’re back! The lovable yellow mini villains from the Despicable Me movie series are back with a movie of their own premiering July 10th. Kevin, Stuart and Bob bring us all back to where the Minions began their fun loving, but evil, journey, and we could not be more excited.

All about the movie

The story of Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment’s Minions begins at the dawn of time. Starting as single-celled yellow organisms, Minions evolve through the ages, perpetually serving the most despicable of masters. Continuously unsuccessful at keeping these masters — from T. Rex to Napoleon — the Minions find themselves without someone to serve and fall into a deep depression.

But one Minion named Kevin has a plan, and he — alongside teenage rebel Stuart and lovable little Bob — ventures out into the world to find a new evil boss for his brethren to follow.

The trio embarks upon a thrilling journey that ultimately leads them to their next potential master, Scarlet Overkill (Academy Award® winner Sandra Bullock), the world’s first-ever female super-villain. They travel from frigid Antarctica to 1960s New York City, ending in mod London, where they must face their biggest challenge to date: saving all of Minionkind…from annihilation.

Celebrating with a Minions Backyard Bash

How to throw a Minons party

Our children are so excited to see the new movie and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the premier than to throw a party! We decided to hold a fun Minions Backyard Bash to share our excitement with our friends and family. We had a blast planning this Minions themed party, and were so excited to see all the fun themed party decor currently available to help make the party perfectly Minion in every way.

With temperatures soaring over 100-degrees the day of our party, we knew the challenge was on to provide our guests with refreshing themed beverages and snacks. Bob’s Brew and the Minions Munch were party favorites (see below for recipes), and it didn’t hurt that we had a ton of fun water activities planned for the guests to keep everyone cool for the duration of the Backyard Bash.

Throwing a Minons Party: What you Need

The Minions Backyard Bash really came to life when we found these fun beach balls and Minions beach towels for our guests. Not to mention our excitement when we learned Havaianas makes these super adorable Minions flip flops!

The children were so excited to learn that Kevin, Stuart and Bob left them some special treats. Those sneaky Minions didn’t make it easy on them though. The villainous trio left clues for the children around the backyard leading them to their goodie bag treasures.

The kids loved figuring out each clue together, and were so excited when they found the Minion leading them to the next hint.

Minons Party Theme: Goodie Bags

The final clue lead them to their treasure and those Minions did not disappoint. The goodie bags were Minions shopper totes filled with Minions themed beach ball, towel, sunglasses, and Playdough set.

The children were over the moon excited about their new Minions swag, and wasted no time putting it to good use.

The rest of the party, everyone played with the shrink rays the Minions must have left behind during their goodie bag hiding, and throwing water balloons at one another (and an unfortunate mommy or two).

Ultimately the Minions Backyard Bash was a huge success, and everyone could not be more excited to see the movie July 10th.
