Miss Piggy. LOVE. HER. Always have, always will. She’s great for so many reasons and so when I heard a new Muppet movie was coming to theaters, I could not wait to see a whole new generation of young women introduced to this super swine of a woman. We can all learn a lot from her. Here are just five reasons why I think she’s the savviest, sassiest of them all.
She’s Confident – She’s a full figured woman who knows she’s hot. Have you ever seen Miss Piggy NOT look good? She shakes what her mama gave her, and she knows how to work her curves. Her make up is always perfect and she never has a hair out of place.
She’s Courageous – I’m pretty sure Miss Piggy knows karate. She’s tough. She also is not afraid to take risks. She’s the first person to hop a plane and travel to far off countries in search of the latest fashion trends or box of truffles. She speaks her mind, and doesn’t worry about what others think.
She’s Fashionable – She’s been on the cover of countless fashion magazines. Ok, maybe that only happened in the Muppet movies, but she is known for her fashionable wardrobe choices. She’s always hip with the latest fashion and in the new Muppet movie, we find her working as editor in chief for a Vogue like magazine. Miss Piggy had shoes made for her by Christian Louboutin and a dress by Zac Posen, which she wears in the finale scene. Also, a total of 12 different costumes were made for Miss Piggy—more costume changes than any other actor in the film.
She’s Smart – She’s never afraid to chase her dreams, and if that means sacrificing to do so, she’ll do it. Whether it’s putting her all into showbiz or her singing career, she’ll fight to reach to the top.
She’s Into More Than Just Looks – Her one true love is a frog. He’s not big or strong, but he’s got a lot of heart, and as we all know, that’s more attractive than muscles any day. Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy forever! Or, as I like to call them Kermiggy.
If you’re thinking of going to see the Muppets this weekend, do it. Better yet, go see it at the historic El Capitan, where before every show there’s a Christmas spectacular complete with guest appearances from Miss Piggy and Kermit themselves. Sing along and jingle your bells to familiar holiday favorites. And as if that was not enough, it “snows” inside the theater!
