Fall Decorating Tips

Fall energizes us in so many ways! The kids are back at school, the holidays are on the horizon, and it’s the perfect time to refresh your home with simple DIY accents. The Web is the perfect place to search for inspiration, but with thousands of ideas out there, it can be overwhelming. Dotcoms For Moms staff of mom editors searched the internet for the best of the best. In addition to the comprehensive Ultimate Guide to Fall, we have put together our top picks for fall decorating ideas just for Savvy Sassy Moms!

MarthaStewart.com. Of course, Martha has to be on the list! Check her site for ideas on how to mix florals, twigs, and fruits for stunning autumn accents. Granted, Martha’s ideas aren’t always super affordable, but this is a terrific place to get inspiration.

Young House Love. Sherry and John Petersik create one of the most talented and idea-filled blogs around and we love them for it. Tons and tons of great DIY ideas here and they’re always very budget conscious which we appreciate. Check out what Sherry did with inexpensive items from around the house and yard.

Sweet Paul. We’re completely addicted to online magazines, and this is one of our favorites. Filled with absolutely gorgeous photography, incredible must-try recipes, and unique DIY ideas, it’s wonderful from cover to cover.  In the current Fall issue, Paul dishes out some wonderful autumn décor ideas, including a “Black Halloween,” setting a harvest table, and creating home accents using silhouettes, like this lampshade.

Country Living. We love this website for its combination of old-fashioned country decorating with fresh, modern twists. Even if you don’t think you’re a “country gal”– this wonderful website will change your mind. One of our favorite ideas for fall is a simple and inexpensive feather wreath.

Although Better Homes and Gardens tends to have a more traditional flair, we’re always pleasantly surprised at the range of ideas we find on this site. There’s an emphasis on presenting projects that are affordable and easy, yet still have a real visual impact. One we want to try is this glass vase filled with dry white beans from the pantry and a simple sprig of colorful berries – brilliant!

Got Supplies? Here are the five sites Dotcoms For Moms recommends for affordable autumn goodies:

World Market for baskets and candles, Save On Crafts for vases, fillers, and organics, Olive Manna for twine, Fabricworm for fabrics and Etsy for burlap pillows, fall ceramics, felt crafts, wood pieces and more for fall decorating!
