Moms, what makes you happy?

Sometimes being a mom is just crazy making. Our schedules are insane. The hours we keep are even worse. So when life’s obstacles present themselves, it’s hard to sit back and realize the simple things in life that make us happy. But, in honor of Back to Mom week, I’m trying. And you should too. Here is a short list of things that really make me happy. They may sound small, or even insignificant, but to me, they are pure bliss.

Catching my favorite I Love Lucy episode on TV.

Listening to my finch, who is aptly named “Bird,” tweet it up all day long.

Sneaking candy corn from the pantry. Hey, it’s a fat free food!

Listening to the imaginary storyline my son is making up for this cars in the next room. Seriously. Only stuff a three year old could think up.

Really cranking up the volume of my favorite CD while on the way to pick up my son from preschool. Hey, I can still rock.

A new tube of mascara or lipstick.

The first rain of the Fall season.

Catching a glimpse of the Ides of March billboard that has both George Cloooney AND Ryan Gosling on it.

Physically reading the paper – holding the actual print in my hands instead of reading it on my laptop or phone.

Moms, what makes YOU happy?

  1. Vegging out in front of the TV. There are times when I’d tell the hubby to take over while I catch up on the Housewives franchise. Every mama needs a break.
