Easy DIY Mani-Pedi for Summer

In Beauty, Style by Tina Bowling2 Comments

While it is a fun little treat to get a mani-pedi at the salon, it’s just not savvy to pay for one every week.  With just a few products and tools in your arsenal, you can have your tips and toes looking salon-fabulous at home!

Step 1:  Exfoliate!  Use a product like Dr. Teal’s Epsom Salt Foot Scrub, massage all over damp feet.  Your skin will feel so much smoother and you’ll love the cooling sensation. Drugstore.com, $5.49.

Step 2:  Prepare!  Dab on Blue Cross Cuticle Remover, a lifesaver for nails (hands and feet), it removes dead tissue and softens up the cuticles.  Folica.com, $3.99.

Step 3:  Repair!  Get yourself a set of tools like the Mini Nail Rescue Kit from Tweezerman.  Use the cuticle pusher and cuticle scissors to clean up the nail beds.  File those nails just a bit so that they are all uniform size. Tweezerman.com, $20.

Step 4:  Moisturize!  Apply a non-greasy deep moisturizer like SebaMed Hand & Nail Balm to hands to relieve any dry or chapped skin and protect nails against breakage (you can use this on toes, too!). CVS.com,  $13.19.

Step 5:  Finish! Put the final touch on your DIY mani-pedi with a cuticle oil like Avoplex Cuticle Oil to Go by OPI on fingers and toes.  This convenient little tube is the icing on the cake and will leave your nails and cuticles hydrated and looking flawless.  Amazon.com, $5.20

You can achieve salon results with this easy DIY mani-pedi even if you are in a pinch.  All that’s left to do is polish with your favorite sassy Summer shade!

Do you have any DIY tricks we should know about?

  2. I love DIY manis/pedis, I don’t have time to go to salons anymore so it’s a special treat to pampers myself at home when the kids are asleep for the night. I need to try out that cuticle oil!
