Spring is the perfect time to add new life to your closet and these 10 fantastic staple pieces will let you go ahead and start transitioning your wardrobe from spring to summer. From denim dresses to pendent necklaces, each of these items will be a stylish choice for your everyday life.

10 Closet staples for spring
1. Stripes

The shirt shown is by J.Crew for Net-A-Porter, but also look at places like Target or Forever 21 for striped t-shirts, sweaters and even tanks.

2. Midi skirt

If you have not tried the midi trend yet, you’ll be amazed by how long they make your legs look! Yes, it’s true. The midi I chose for this post is a super steal at just over $14 and I love it. I can see it with a blouse or a t-shirt, heels or flats… the possibilities are endless.

3. Trench

I love a classic long trench coat, but I fell in love with this short swing trench from J.Crew as a fresh new spin for spring. It is made of poplin and is just so versatile. This jacket would be a terrific addition to any closet.

4. Denim dress

Denim dresses are everywhere this season! This dress from Zara stood out to me, mostly because of the v-neck — which is flattering on most everyone — and the beautiful embellishment on the front. I’ve also seen great choices at Gap, Old Navy, Forever 21, and Target, so be sure to shop around.

5. Gladiator sandal

Gladiator sandals are still in style. My favorite pick is the Lowell flat by Tory Burch, but if you’re looking for a steal try one of these: Mossimo Wendi, Barbados Thong by Mia, or the Selma by Circus for Sam Edelman.

6. Lace

Lace, in general, is very feminine and beautiful, making it a great choice for spring. How can you not feel gorgeous wearing it? Try adding lace to your closet with a blouse like this one from J.Crew or a pullover from Anthropologie for a more casual look.

7. Perforated flats

Menswear is still a hot item on lists of trends, including for this spring. I am not a huge fan of loafers, because I was a child of the the ’90s when Eastland penny loafers were “the thing” to wear. But, I have completely jumped on board with the slip-on sneaker and perforated flat version of this trend. They are a nice change from ballet flats, still giving us a closed toe without having to wear socks. It’s a win-win! Many stores and designers have shoes in this style out right now and at every price point, from Payless to Neiman Marcus.

8. White jeans

White jeans, I love you with all of my heart. I love you in the spring with a dark sweater and into fall with riding boots. They are a clean, classic look. Your closet wants white jeans! Try a straight, slim fit like these.

9. Pendant necklace

From shiny gold to wooden beads, you can wear pendant necklaces with just about anything! And, you can find them everywhere right now — Instagram flash sales, Etsy, local boutiques, and most major retailers. Find one you love and I guarantee you will find yourself wearing it daily.

10. Chic carryall

Over-sized carryalls give you functionality and style in one. Whether heading to the office, park, or out to dinner, you can keep everything you might need on hand without compromising a chic look.

Whether you add one or all then of these staples to your closet this spring, take the time to find a style that fits you and wear it with confidence.
