Here’s the Savvy Sassy Scoop!
I had to re evaluate my Neighborhood Rally a little bit so I changed it from a Neighborhood Breakfast to an Neighborhood Ice Cream Social! The logistics of a breakfast was too big and too complicated – Ice Cream not so complicated! Well, so I thought…
I was having a very difficult time finding Ice Cream for my event – I know, it’s hard to believe! Sure I could have went and bought gallons of it at the grocery store, but then I needed a place to keep it frozen and then to have toppings or just cones, and would it just be a big do it your self mess? I contacted a few of my local big name Ice Cream Shops – You know the ones. Not one of them was willing to donate the ice cream. Two out of three were very nice and offered a 15% discount, but it was still way over my budget and it was $2 for one scoop of Ice cream, nothing special just one scoop, that’s it! (Lame)
Let me tell you my frustration with one local manager the company shall remain nameless because in the end someone from the PR company did offer me something great! but it was just a day too late and a dollar short 🙁 But I’ll tell you what happenend anyway – He hung up on me!!! No really! This is what he said before I was even finished talking and I quote…“Oh I see, I see, you just want me to bring Ice Cream for Free, oh NO NO we don’t do that – BYE!” I realize that these shops are franchises and each owner can run their store how ever they would like, but yikes!
I called him back and said “Sir you hung up on me and I wasn’t finished talking with you. I understand you can’t do it for free, but what about a discount, this is for a charity?” and the conversation gets more frustrating and then he says very rudely… ” You will have to come in to discuss this, so can I hang up now?”
I was appalled!!! “Nobody puts Baby in the Corner”
So that is what started my Savvy Sassy Mission!
Ahem, Ahem, Look who will be pulling up to my Ice Cream Social Event…..

Wow, what a story! And I would rather be the company that IS working for you than the one who isn’t! They get great PR, the satisfaction of doing something worthwhile, and spreading ice cream goodness with all!
Hope it is a blast! 😉
