Child Hunger Ends Here – DO Something!

So what does it take to get 14 Bloggers out of the house, of the their computers, put away their phones, and stop tweeting?  All it takes is a call to help children!

On Tuesday 14 bloggers (including me) went down to the LA Food bank to get a tour and help fill backpacks for the BackPack Program.  The Back Pack Program sends food home with children in need to make sure they have something to eat over the weekend.  Asking Moms to fill backpacks is a no brainer, they definatly called in the professionals! Items such as corn flakes, milk, spagetti noodles and sauce, juice, animal crackers and peanut butter were all placed in the backpacks and sent down the line to be zipped up and put bins, ready to go out to the schools that provide this service.

While I placed the Peanut Butter in the backpacks I started to think about the children that take these home every week.   They are provided with breakfast and lunch at school and then on the weekends, but what about dinner?  Some of these children go to bed each night without anything to eat.  I cannot imagine telling my children that their is no food for dinner tonight.   For me to think that I would never be in that postition well, that is just ignorant.  All it could take is a job loss or a major illness and we could be in that situation.

With the economy and with so many unemployed  more and more people are finding themselves having to make tough decisions such as paying the utilities or buy food.  Last year the LA Food bank delivered 54 million lbs of food in Los Angeles county.  YES there are HUNGRY CHILDREN in America!! Many believe “the hungry” are only “the homeless”, and that is just NOT the case!

The Food Banks need our Support and hosting a neighborhood rally is a simple way for you to make a donation to help End Child Hunger!  Please don’t let the word “rally” scare you, it could be as simple as a family picnic, class playdate, or a lemonade stand!

Go to and sign up to get your Rally Toolkit!

Disclosure:  I am one of 14 Bloggers that will be spreading the word about child hunger and my efforts come from the heart first an formost.  However, I will be accepting compensation for the hard work and dedication to making this campaign a huge success.  Everything written about this campaign are my own words, feeling and honest statements.  Rally with me!

  3. What a great cause to get our children involved in. We often have food drives at our school, and for my daughter’s dance recital – non perishables are the cost of admission.

  4. This is wonderful! i always believed in feeding kids and I am so happy I can help! I signed up and I hope to have a huge turnout! I donate to my local community and we have a huge garden that feeds so many!
