Boyfriend jeans are the perfect spring pant. You can dress them up, dress them down and they remain on-trend with the spring 2014 styles. Finding a pair that fits you well is key, as the perfect boyfriend is an easy fit that remains close to your body… often a fine line to balance.
Boyfriend jeans are great on all body types
I love how a cuffed boyfriend jean is a great figure equalizer. Whereas gazelle model types can rock a skinny jean admittedly better than a regular gal such as myself, any lady can look bodacious in a boyfriend jean. The most important fit factor is a boyfriend that fits you sleekly in the hips and booty, and provides an easy leg without leaving your calves and thighs swimming in denim.
Affordable and chic
While I had previously subscribed to the idea that expensive jeans are a necessary evil to get a good fit, I was pleased to discover a new, affordable boyfriend jean that completely rocks! dENiZEN from the Levi’s brand, available at Target, makes a beautiful boyfriend jean — the dENiZEN Straight Leg Crop — that is priced for a mere $27.99.
I found that dENiZEN jeans (available in sizes 2-18) naturally run a bit big, so you do not need to size up to get that slouchy-but-not-sloppy look. The dENiZEN Straight Leg Crop gave great fit with a mid-rise, fitted seat, and lots of stretch for relaxed but polished legs.
I styled my pair of dENiZEN jeans two different “outfit of the day #ootd” ways to show you how a size 10, 5’7, mom of three can wear these jeans in real life. With a mixture of high and low, dressy and casual pieces, these jeans work well for both work and play.

This is how I would wear the boyfriend jeans for a business casual meeting or professional daytime event this spring. The key elements for dressing up your boyfriend jeans are a sleek, heeled shoe and keeping all the other items in your outfit more formal than the jeans themselves. I am long-waisted, so I like to tuck in my shirt and belt the jeans to give the illusion of a longer leg.

As a freelance writer, admittedly I have more opportunities to wear my boyfriends in a relaxed fashion. This is how I would style them for meeting friends, volunteering at my kids’ school or dashing around town. To keep the look less overtly soccer mom, I still think you need a bit of a heel for your shoe when wearing a boyfriend jean. Although TOMS, canvas sneaks or flat sandals look great with other spring pants, a heel really balances the slouch of the boyfriend for a more flattering line. I am a fan of a wedge-heeled sandal for comfort and cuteness.
But enough about me: How would YOU style these dENiZEN boyfriend jeans?
Thanks to dENiZEN by the Levi’s brand for Target for providing the writer with a pair of jeans for review.

I love both looks, but I think the boyfriend jeans with the blazer is my favorite!
