Wedding Attire for Kids

It’s wedding season, which means most of our calendars are booked up each weekend for various weddings to attend! Not only do you have to pick out the perfect outfit for yourself, but for your kiddos as well.

During the spring/summer wedding season I love to keep my daughter’s dresses in season and dress her in bright colors and pretty floral patterns, while trying to keep in mind that they’ll have to wear the item for a big portion of the day/evening.  Boys can get in on the fun, too! Take a look at my favorite picks for kids wedding attire below, and get your little ladies & gents party ready!

There is nothing I love more for girls’ attire for summer weddings than bright, happy dresses with gorgeous patterns. When I found each of these dresses, they instantly screamed “summer wedding!” to me. All of these dresses will keep your little ladies cool from wedding ceremony to reception time. I personally like to keep my daughters outfits simple, so a bold dress to make a statement and a cute headband are usually my two essentials. That way, even though there aren’t a lot of components to the outfit, they are comfortable, stylish and most importantly, happy!

1. Ralph Lauren Infant Girls Floral Dress – $35.00  2. Tile tunic – $56.00 (On sale!) 3. Mini Boden Pretty Print Dress – $46.00 4. Baby girl headband – $8.00 5. Girls’ organdy pleated dress – $54.99 (On sale!)

For the boys, I wanted to keep the look classic and cool. Most of the little men that I know don’t like to be overly dressed up for weddings, and keeping the outfit simple but stylish is the way to go. A clean and crisp dress shirt is a wardrobe staple for little boys, and the great thing is you can add a little oomph to the outfit by getting them in bright, summery colors. If it’s an outdoor wedding, the linen pants are a smart choice considering the light and airy fabric. If you’re going for timeless wedding attire, you can never go wrong with black dress pants. If you want to jazz up the outfit you can add a vest like the one I featured above and a tie (zipper ties are such a great invention!) and your little man will be ready to celebrate.

1. Brooks Brothers Dress Shirt – $49.50 2. Nordstrom Silk Zipper Tie – $22.50 3. Hickey Freeman “Bhelding” Linen Trousers – $45.90 (On sale!) 4. Calvin Klein Dress Pants – $42.50 5. Boys’ vest – $80.00

If you are getting married soon then you’ll want to make sure that you are happy with your dress. On top of this, you’ll want to make sure that your bridesmaids look the best too. This dress is the ideal choice if you want a simple solution that isn’t too over-the-top. There are also many flower girls dresses online, so don’t be afraid to hunt around to see if you can find something that reflects your special day perfectly.

What are your favorite ways to dress up your little ones for weddings? Do they enjoy getting dressed up or do they object?

  1. We are getting ready for my brother’s wedding and all four kids are in it. Should be fun. I love the idea of vests for the boys.

  2. I know, so cute isn’t it?? Especially nice because then they don’t have to worry about wearing a hot coat, but they’ll still look dressy! 🙂
