Summer time is my favourite time of the year to spend focusing on my family. There are so many great activities to enjoy together while the weather is nice, and I like to try and take advantage of them all if I can. With July fast approaching and baby #2 due in two weeks, I know we won’t be getting away for a family vacation, so I’ve been doing a lot of looking around for fun summer toys and activities that we can do right in our backyard, or take with us to the park or the lake.
Between fun water games, beach gear and outdoor toys, I came across so many great finds that will keep us busy having fun in the sun! You shouldn’t hear any complaints of boredom when your little ones have these great summer activities and gear to choose from. There’s nothing better than spending a day with your family playing outside, and even better are the tuckered out kids that can result in that 😉 Here’s a few of my favourite outdoor toys and games to check out this summer!
Hibiscus Beach Ball Sprinkler – $29.76
How cool is this beach ball sprinkler? I remember how fun it was as a kid to jump through the sprinkler — now your kids can take it to a whole new level with this fun sprinkler ball! Just hook it up to your garden hose and you have an outdoor toy that is sure to entertain your kids for hours.
Sport-Brella – $59.99
This is a great piece of gear to have on hand if you and your family spend a lot of time outdoors — either at the park, the lake, or the beach. If you need some shelter from the sun, the Sport-Brella is perfect to provide you with just that. The eight foot wide umbrella has 50+ UPF to protect from over 99.5% of UVA and UVB rays, side flaps for full cover protection and wind vents and side zippered window for airflow. Whether you are sitting on the sidelines watching a soccer game or hitting the beach with your kids, the Sport-Brella will help protect you and your family from the harsh sun.
Ladder Ball – $37.57
This game has been on my summer-game-wishlist, and I am adamant about trying it out this year! It looks so much fun. In ladder ball, each player has three golf “bolas.” A bola is two golf balls attached by a nylon rope. The object of the game is to wrap the bolas around the steps of the ladder. The games are played to a point total of 21, and whoever reaches that exact point amount wins. I’ve seen a lot of families playing this game and it looks like a blast.
Zoe b Biodegradable Beach Toys – $22.00
This is one of the neatest ideas I have heard in a long time — beach toys that are completely biodegradable! We are all guilty of buying typical beach toys and leaving them behind at the beach, but want to hear some good news? If you use these adorable Zoe b beach toys, and they wash out to sea never to surface again, they will break down to organic materials within 2-3 years (not 500 years, like ordinary plastic!). Now you can leave your eco-guilt at home when you bring these toys to the beach with you!
Alex Toys Sack Racing Set – $19.99
If you have ever attended a family barbecue, you know how essential games such as the three legged race, egg in the spoon and most importantly — potato sack racing — is to the atmosphere of the barbecue. This is a must-play game for kids, and these cute sacks from Alex Toys are perfect for an afternoon of sack racing. The sacks are made of sturdy nylon with handles so kids can get a good grip on the sack. Not only that but they are much more fun than your regular potato sack! This is a great classic game to pull out for the little ones.
Canopy Spring Float – $19.99
Do you have a smaller baby that is going to also want in on the fun this summer? I love this adorable little pool float to help introduce baby to the water. Instead of having to sit out pool time, your littlest one can join the family in the big pool while remaining protected from the sun, too!
What are your must-have summer toys and gear to keep you and your family happy this summer season?
