Life lessons are hard for adults to deal with, let alone children. That’s why putting complex issues about feelings into words that a preschooler can understand can be so daunting for parents. I’ve been looking to the good people at the Mother Company for advice for quite some time. They have a knack for bringing home big messages to pint-sized audiences. And, they just added another amazing video to their roster that can help us all raise kind, communicative and compassionate children.
“Ruby’s Studio: The Friendship Show,” is the second in a series of hit DVDs, the first being “Ruby’s Studio: The Feelings Show.” It’s a fun, engaging program that offers kids invaluable tools to help them make and nurture lasting friendships. The lovable host, Ruby, guides children through an adventure of learning about empathy, conflict resolution, The Golden Rule, and other ways to make and nurture lasting friendships.
The 41-minute DVD takes place in Ruby’s art studio where they are treated to adorable animated segments, art projects and inspired original music. The colors are vibrant and the kids in the video are naturals. I caught myself being swept up in the action as well. I watched it with my son, and I could see that he was enjoying. In fact, he wanted to watch it again after we were done. Overall this show had great lessons that were really tailored to the preschool crowd.
There’s also a pop-up parenting option on the DVD, with talking points from world-renowned parenting expert and author, Dr. Robyn Silverman. This woman knows her stuff.
“Ruby’s Studio: The Friendship Show,” is available for purchase online, on December 14, for $16.99.

We love the Mother Company! Would love to win these DVDs. My daughter has special needs and has particular problems with friendships, so we work hard by trying to show her appropriate models in peer groups and lots of conversations and role playing.
We like to foster friendships for our children by teaching them about empathy, compassion, kindness, etc… and living the words we preach in our home day in and day out.
