Okay people settle in, because this is my new found obsession and dream of a site. I have been sitting on this one for awhile now because I just don’t even know where to begin. It’s called GoGoBot and well it’s brilliant. It is essentially an online travel website/ social network where your friends are the key to creating extraordinary travel experiences. I can’t get enough of it! It launched in November 2010, GoGoBot helps people tap into their personal networks via Facebook and Twitter to easily get and share travel advice.
For anyone who loves to Travel, this is the place to be. (but after you read this post of course) It’s like mixing Pintrest/Facebook/Tripadvisor/Twitter all into one main hub for travel inspiration, advice, tips, expertise, reviews, knowledge and even trip planning. All in one spectacular spot, but wait there’s more!
You create your own profile and then you can create your very own City Guides of the place you have been. Gogobot lets you add pictures, share memories, travel tips and rate the places you have been. You can also earn travel badges for the more reviews and recommendations you share with people.
One of my favorite features is the Trip Planning tool – Simply choose your destination and instantly the top things to do and see in that area pop up. You can ask GoGoBot members that have been there questions about specific places like; historic monuments, museums or parks. Most of my travel is done with two kids in tow, so I can ask if certain places are kid-friendly or age appropriate. Gogobot also partners with another one of my favorites HomeAway, and other travel sites like Expedia, Hotels.com, Kayak and Priceline that enable users to book their vacations directly from the site.
Get the Gogobot App. Create beautiful postcards and reviews of your travels, see what’s nearby, and carry your trip plans with you.
Tech Savvy indeed: Gogobot’s founders were key to the early success of MySpace and Yahoo Answers and are now bringing this deep understanding of the social web to travel. The company is backed by Battery Ventures, Google CEO Eric Schmidt’s Innovation Endeavors and MySpace founder Chris DeWolfe. Gogobot is based in Menlo Park, CA.
So where in the world would you like to go next?
