Travel in style this Summer

Family Vacation. No matter how prepared you try to be, it always feels like something gets left behind.  When you have kids this issue becomes even bigger – as anyone who has left Mr. Bear at home can tell you. But having a vacation with your family should be a fun and relaxing experience; after all, it’s your time to relax too, and you want to look great doing it.

No More Mildew For You!

Beach vacations and time spent playing in the pool always result in wet bathing suits and clothes that somehow get thrown into smolder with your clean luggage.  But no more!  There are some great waterproof products made with nylon or neoprene liners that allow you to throw your wet gear in, and zip them away.  No more worries about getting your paperback and shawl ruined on the ride back to the hotel, or your nice clothes being covered in sand on the trip home.  These wet travel bags from Itzy Ritzy are great for the the whole family but I also like this chic and sassy wet bikini bag for me.

Tote Bags are the New Diaper Bags

Tote bags are big enough to carry all your gear plus the odds and ends your kids can’t live without.  Whether you’re planning to play in the sand all afternoon or trek through an amusement park, a tote bag can make the grade.  They are meant to carry a decent amount of weight, so aren’t likely to fall apart, and depending on the brand they might have enough interior zippers and pockets to keep you from needing to dig around every time you want something specific.  And because tote bags are in right now, you can find a huge assortment of styles and patterns to fit your personality or color coordinate with your cute sandals.  You could go with the traditional straw beach tote or stripes, or you may want to consider this super stylish Redecca Minkoff Ikat travel tote.

GPS Luggage tags

GPS Your Stuff

There’s nothing worse than losing your luggage and having to spend your time replacing lost items instead of having fun. The future has now caught up with us, and having GPS luggage tags is a great way to add useful tech to your travels.  Unlike traditional tags that carry personal information like phone numbers and addresses, these electronic tags can simply be scanned to indicate where they ended up, and make retrieving your luggage a breeze.

Your Vacation Destination

Now you look great – but where to go?  Picking a summer vacation destination can be difficult when you add kids into the mix.  You want to pick somewhere that will be entertaining for your little ones but fun for adults as well.  Don’t know where to start?  Try a trendy travel guide, like The New York Times’ list of top 46 Places to go in 2013.  This list spans New Delhi to the Adirondacks and everywhere in between – with so many choices you are bound to find the perfect place for your troop.

When my family of five visited Hawaii, listed as number 16 on the must-see list, we were able to pick a family friendly Honolulu hotel that offered a top rated kids club and a rejuvenating spa for myself.  With a little research you can find a chic location that is perfect for traveling families.

No matter where you go, having a fun vacation with your family should be the priority.  With some preparation you can travel with less stress and look amazing in the process.
