Summer Daycamp Essentials for Kids

In Kids, Kids Fashion, Style by Tracy2 Comments

Summer camps are starting soon so it’s time to make sure that your kids are well-equipped for their days.  You should receive a list from each camp on exactly what your child will need for the day.  Typically daycamps require your child to bring a small pack to hold either a change of clothes or even a swimsuit and towel (depending on what type of camp it is), and perhaps a change of shoes for various activities. Make sure their footwear is both comfortable and sturdy for the activity.

My girls are signed up for a variety of day camps this summer – ranging from all out ‘get dirty’ camps in the woods to a sewing camp at a local textile co-op..so it’s good to be prepared for exactly what they will need specifically for each summer experience.

Some great daypack options to carry it all are:

1. Target Daypack   2. High Sierra makes a great Daypack in many colors from Gander Mountain  3. Super durable Backpack from REI that is on sale right now! 4. Critter Daypack from LL Bean 5. Lands End Adventure Backpack

The kids will probably also need to bring a lunch and water bottle for their day. Here are some great ways to keep their lunch and beverages cold.

1. REI makes a great stainless water bottle    2. This Dual-compartment lunchbox is great from LL Bean  3. Love Klean Kanteen water bottles for camp from LandsEnd 4.  BPA-free bottles from Camelbak that you can purchase at Target are always a hit and come in many colors  5. Hoohobbers provides a great insulated lunchbox and you can even have it personalized with your child’s name to ensure it gets back to it’s proper owner.

If your child’s daycamp is outdoors you need to make sure your kids stay safe in the sun and make sure you apply sunscreen with a high SPF before they leave home and check with your camp on what their rules are for reapplying during the day. Also make sure your child has some great sunglasses and a sunhat.

Here are some hats we’ve found that provide great coverage:

1. I absolutely love these full coverage adventure hats(in many colors) from Sunday Afternoons 2. The Surfs-up sports cap is another great option from Coolibar 3. This is a great bucket hat from Sungrubbies 4. The REI Paddler hat is awesome too!

I hope this gives you a good start on preparing for Summer Day camps – let the fun begin!
