Okay, Hilary MacMillan, what pieces from your show don’t I want! From the cool latex pieces to the femine tones, the collection was completely wearable straight off the runway. Hilary MacMillan’s TFW show shines! I could not decide which item I wanted to take home immediately and wear right then and there.
Hilary MacMillan’s TFW Show Shines
Hilary MacMillan’s Fall Winter 2018 collection is truly stunning! Her wearable designs focus on the modern woman. She balances athleisure separates in sequins with tailored trendy pieces, creating a new fashion terrain for Fall 2018. By utilizing high shine on garments, Hilary MacMillan’s TFW show shines.
The color palette is feminine and wearable
The color palette alone is feminine, with baby pinks, blues, silver, white and black.
Two piece sets are a must!
The two piece sets exuded femininity draped perfectly on the models, displaying Hilary’s understanding of how women actually dress. Hilary proves that wearing sequins in daylight hours can be done. Mixing the pieces seem natural, despite the jarring differences between the materials, like matching sequins and pink suiting, something I would’ve never thought to pair in my real life! Creating quietly sequined relaxed pants, allows the modern woman that perfect amount of shine for a lunch date, workwear, concert goers and date nights.
Bringing skirts and pants back to life
Faux leather patent pieces give delicate items like skirts an edge, and brought a standard suit-pant back to life with a cool vibe. The way MacMillan styled the collection looked feminine, put together, without shouting abrasively, “look, I’m wearing latex pants!”
As an entirety, the collection is cruelty-free, showing you CAN dress well without cruel fabrics like leathers, fur and feathers.
Without a doubt, I want every single piece straight off the runway. The collection itself is season-less and every piece can be worn at any time of the year.
Hilary, I think you are my new favorite Canadian designer, and you gave me some awesome new ideas for my own wardrobe. I can’t wait to see what you come up with next!
