Spring into Summer Fashion

In Beauty, Style by Sherry2 Comments

The Summer months are quickly approaching so it’s time to add some fun new outfits and accessories to our wardrobes. With all of the bold colors and patterns out there it can be difficult to decipher what will work best for you. Even if you aren’t into the “jump out and grab you” outfits we are seeing so much of right now, there are still ways to add some really fun things to your wardrobe without going overboard.

1. The Cat Eye

The current sunglasses trend I’m loving is the cat eye. This can be a bold look for some people but there are much more subtle versions of this style available that are suitable for everyone.

2. Statement Necklace

This is a trend I don’t see going away any time soon. The great thing about statement pieces is they can instantly dress up any plain Jane look. This necklace is the Zahara Bib by Stella and Dot.

3. Skinny Belt

A skinny belt is a must have for every closet. It can be worn so many different ways. My personal favorite is to add it to a cardigan sweater but it’s also great to add to a pair of jeans, pencil skirt or a longer top to add some interest.

4. Scarf

Scarves are not just a Fall or Winter accessory. A light scarf can add so much to any outfit.  I wear them with Maxi dresses, a tank and jeans, a tank and shorts, a tank and skirt. You get the idea. A great scarf adds so much to an otherwise boring outfit.

5. Floral Dress

Flowers are everywhere this season even on skinny jeans.  It’s all about pleated floral dress with the trend leaning mostly towards the smaller floral patterns. This is a great look for a casual every day, wear to work, brunch with the girls or add a pair of cute pumps and it’s perfect for a wedding, as a guest of course.

6. Denim Jacket

Denim jackets are such a timeless piece. I’ve had one in my closet since at least 1990. The cuts and styles have changed a bit but nevertheless an important item for every girls wardrobe.  I personally love coupling a denim jacket with a tank or maxi dress for when some of those cooler evenings still crop up from time to time.

7. Sandals

I must admit I wear Havainas and Crocs a lot, probably more than I should. When I’m not flying out the door in the midst of the chaos for the kids school drop off I often wear a pair of great sandals. There are so many cute styles out there and they can really dress up any spring or summer outfit.

8. Chain Link Bag

Chanel is the mother of all chain link bags but only recently has every other bag designer caught on to this fabulous look. It’s not just for evening, it looks great with a super casual look as well.

  1. LOVE the summer floral dress. I am seeing so many floral prints this season in dresses and skirts and scarves. Although I am staying away from the flower plants trend – already did that in the 80’s. That was enough for me.
