Living in Los Angeles I get to do some pretty cool things. Last week I attended the press event at Fox Studios for the new 3-D animatted film, RIO. The star studded cast that puts their voices behind these colorful birds includes Jesse Eisenberg, Anne Hathaway, Jamie Foxx, George Lopez, Will I Am and Leslie Mann.
Jamie Foxx, Ann Hathaway and George Lopez all hit the blue carpet before the press went into to see the “sneak beak” of the movie. The director Carlos Saldanha, who also directed all of the Ice Age movies, walked us through the storyline and a little bit about each character. Carlos is originally from Brazil and you could hear the passion in his voice and his dedication to making the backdrop of this film authentic to his home of Rio de Janeiro.
Celebrity Notes: Anne Hathaway was lovely, genuine, and gorgeous. George Lopez was hysterical. Jamie Foxx was cool as a cucumber, funny and not to bad to look at;)
Film Synopsis: ‘Rio’ is a 3-D animation feature set in the magnificent city of Rio de Janeiro and the lush rainforest of Brazil. The comedy-adventure centers on Blu, a rare macaw who thinks he is the last of his kind. When Blu discovers there’s another — and that she’s a she — he leaves the comforts of his cage in small town Minnesota and heads to Rio. Unexpectedly thrown together, they embark on an adventure of a lifetime, where they learn about friendship, love, courage, and being open to life’s many wonders. ‘Rio’ brings together a menagerie of vivid characters, a heart-warming story, colorful backdrops, energizing Latin and contemporary music, and family-friendly song and dance.
I had to laugh when I read about Blu, the rare Macaw living in Minnesota (where I am originally from) and leaving to go on this wild adventure. Hmmm, sounds a bit familiar? After watching a few scenes it was easy to see this film is about taking chances, leaving your comfort zone and living life to it’s fullest!
This movie not only has a wonderful message for kids but will also remind adults that they need to take chances and spread their wings too . Besides the obvious “learning how to fly” theme, it is very funny, magical and exciting. The music alone will make you want to get out of your seat! I cannot wait to take my kids to see this movie.
They also announced the partnership with Angry Birds!
Yup, there will be an App for that!
Mark your calendars, Rio hits theaters on April 15th 2011
