I went down to San Diego to volunteer for Operation Shower and had such a wonderful and inspiring time! The talented Amy from Stem Parties and Jen from Hostess with the Mostess created an adorable theme called “Sunshine Farms”. It was down right farm friendly and beyond country chic! The shower took place at the Torrey Pines Golf Course on the 14th Green and could not have been a more picturesque place. An ocean view and the perfect weather baby shower!
The military moms in attendance received a catered brunch from Whole Foods and decadent desserts from Sweets Indeed, which is a local San Diego company that specializes in high end, custom candy and dessert stations. The display of sugary goodness was gorgeous, I didn’t even want to eat one, they were just so perfect placed!
During the shower the March of Dimes gifted LeAnn Morrissey, the founder of Operation Shower a check for $10,000!! How incredible is that? K-Mart helped make this shower possible and not only was the crew on hand to help deliver the showers in a box, but they brought out a car seat form every single mom in attendance! Not only did every mom recieve a box filled with baby goodies, a car seat, diapers and a baby blanket. Through out the day each of them also won a variety of raffle prizes; cribs, a stoller, a complete nursery make-over from Project Nursery, 3 $1,000 savings from Farmers Insurance, a glider chair and diaper bags from Skip Hop.
As these military moms open the boxes and started to dig inside, their faces beamed with happiness, the smiles could not have been any bigger! They were so grateful, excited and appreciative. I was honored to be able to take two days out of my life and help with this event and in a small way make a difference for these women. Operation Shower understands that these military families need our support, often times these moms are all alone during what is suppose to be one of the most cherished times in a womans life.
Two Military Mama’s I had the pleasure of Volunteering alongside, Rachel Camp & Melinda Bertrand. They came to support other Military wives becausee they know first hand what it’s like to be in their shoes!
A Salute to:
Farmer’s Insurance, March of Dimes, K-Mart, Whole Foods, AT & T, Sweets Indeed, Hostess with the Mostess, Stem Parties, Project Nursery and all of those companies that donated product to Operation Shower!
