Old Navy and Disney joined forces to host an awesomely fun event this past weekend to launch the new “Mickey Through the Decades” Vintage Tee Collection. This fun family-friendly event was attended by celebrities like expecting mama-to-be Jennifer Love Hewitt, Brooke Burke (“Dancing With the Stars”) and Constance Marie (“Switched at Birth”).
My two-year-old daughter got a huge kick out of seeing both Mickey and Minnie – who were both on hand for pictures – and constantly waved to them while yelling, “Mickey!” and clapping while they danced. Caricature artists, Disney temporary tattoos, coloring stations, Mickey ice cream and screenings of the super cute new Mickey Shorts animated shorts rounded up the activities for the day. Guests were also treated to a preview of all of the new offerings from the “Mickey Through the Decades” collection – which is pretty awesome.
Disney fans are really in for a treat with this collaboration as it features rarely seen artwork from the Disney Archives. The collection is meant to showcase how Mickey and Friends have evolved over the years. And even though I’m admittedly not a huge Mickey fan myself, even I was hit with lust for these adorably vintage shirts. Jodi Rosenblatt, director of sales at Disney Consumer Products shares, “By combining Disney storytelling with Old Navy’s relaxed, playful styles… Mickey continues to capture the imagination of fans worldwide, and this vintage collection reminds us of Mickey’s timeless qualities and fun-loving personality.”
The shirts are available at Old Navy in stores and online. Prices start from $12.94-$14.94 and they come in a wide range of men, women and kid and toddler sizes. One of my favorites was a vintage Mickey Mouse Club shirt that they were, alas, all out of in my size. Little Miss was super excited to receive her “present from Mickey” and hasn’t stopped wearing it all day (as evidenced by the pants less picture above.) So whether you’re a huge Disney fan, or just want something cute to wear that doesn’t look “too” childlike, this collection has it all.
