When I first traveled to London many moons ago, I remember discovering a chain of retail stores called Jigsaw, and loving them. Imagine my surprise and delight, many years and one child later, to learn that they now have a children’s line, Jigsaw Junior, and let me tell you – their Spring/Summer 2013 collection is to-die-for cute.
Head designer Sharon Lonsdale used nature as the inspiration for this line, “especially plants, animals, rainbows and insects.” This can be displayed in many of the whimsical details found in the pieces like this adorable Rainbow Print Tee.
Another theme of this collection is freedom and daydreaming, two concepts that go perfectly with kids. Think bright, happy colors and playful prints. According to Lonsdale, “The team tries to imagine how a little girl would feel wearing each style. Comfort, easy dressing and movement are key. Our favourite saying in the office is “does it have the twirl factor?” We like our girl to have some spin!” Can’t you just picture your little girl twirling in this adorable Cherry Tulip Sundress in the sunshine? I know I can!
Lonsdale sums up the Spring/Summer collection as “[f]un, fresh, soft, sparkly, quality and attitude.” This gorgeous Sequin Sparkle Cardigan certainly fits the bill. (Seriously, could I get this in an adult size?)
The collection is filled with other similarly pretty and fanciful pieces, along with several oh-so-on-trend stripe pieces for the season. Designed with kid-friendly fabrics (i.e. ones that can be tossed in the washing machine) it’s clear that every aspect of dressing a child was considered by Lonsdale and her team. So if you’re looking for a new source for stylish girl’s clothing, or just want to add a little London flair to your budding fashionista’s closet, check out the new Jigsaw Junior collection. I know I will be!
