London Calling: Global Kids Fashion Week

In Kids, Kids Fashion, Style by savvysassymoms1 Comment

I predict 2013 to be the year of all things London!  It started with a Royal wedding, then the Olympics and now there is a royal baby on the way!   London could not be more exciting right now.  And if that wasn’t enough, the fashion industry will now welcome the first ever Global Kids Fashion Week this March. Alex Theophaneous, the founder and CEO of global luxury style destination for children, AlexandAlexa.com, joined forces with Camila Batmanghelidjh, founder of the Kids Company charity, to announce the exciting collaboration this past November in London.

“Kids’ fashion is playful, fun and innovative. There is no question that it deserves its own dedicated platform and that is why we are so proud to be supporting the very first Global Kids’ Fashion Week,” explained Alex Theophanous, founder and CEO of AlexandAlexa.com.  “With this event we aim to put children’s fashion on the map worldwide.”

As a finale to the international fashion week series, Global Kids Fashion Week (GKFW) will cast a spotlight on premium kids’ fashion, from both established designers as well as emerging names. The three-day schedule includes runway shows and performances, informative exhibitions, industry talks and playful activities for children in attendance.

The event is slated for March 18-20, 2013 will feature two main runway shows—an exclusive media event showcasing the latest Autumn/Winter 2013 trends from the world’s leading children’s labels and a second ticketed event that will be open to the public and will showcase current Spring/Summer 2013 looks from AlexandAlexa.com’s brand portfolio.  All ticket sale proceeds to the public fashion show will be donated to the Kids Company Charity that supports the educational and emotional needs of vulnerable inner-city children in London.

The event will also include a mix of fun activities for children and parents, with workshops from the Victoria & Albert Museum of Childhood, a performance from the London Children’s Ballet and an interactive bloggers lounge.
