Knott’s Berry Farm

If you are traveling to California with kids there is no doubt you are going to hit up a theme park or two. Since we live in Los Angeles our family has made the rounds to Disneyland, Legoland, Adventure City and finally we made our mark on Knott’s Berry Farm.  We were invited to attend there February special event Twogether is Better.  This is a special Valentine themed event taking place all month long.  For local southern California parents looking for something fun to do on the weekends you may want to check this out.  Admission is just $34.99 for the month and you can bring a friends for only $24.99.  They are also having a special leap day price on February 29th, everyone gets in for just $29.00.

We were apart of the special VIP breakfast that included heart shaped pancakes, heart shaped penut butter and jelly sandwiches and even heart shaped egg salad sandwiches.   After we fueled up on an amazing breakfast, we took in a special show “Love is in the Air Charlie Brown!” at the Camp Snoopy theatre.  Which was a charming, musical show about love and friendship.  The show plays 4 times daily and 5 times on the weekends.

There was a Kids Craft Corner where the kids could make Valentine’s and tissue flowers, my kids even went back again to make Charlie Brown a Valentine so they could drop them in his mailbox.  We also stopped by the Hugging Booth to give each other a squeeze.  All the Peanuts characters took their turns in the hugging booth so kids could hug them and get their pictures taken with their favorite characters.

The amusement park itself has a ton of roller coasters and plenty of rides for older kids, I was actually surprised by how many adult rides there were.  I thought the park itself was nice and manageable with small kids,  all the smaller rides are grouped nicely together in the same general area and the bathrooms were easy to find.  If your kids like to go on rides (my son doesn’t) there are plenty of them to go on and even a mini roller coaster for the little thrill seekers.

The food is crazy expensive like all theme parks (no big surprise there), but it still shocks and amazes me.  Water is $4.00.  We ate at Lucy’s Lunchbox and my Chicken sandwich was $7.50 for just the sandwich and it was $8.00 to add a drink and french fries.  Yup, 15.50 for my lunch, as Charlie Brown would say {good grief}.  I saw a “smart Mom” and her kid eating homemade peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

If you are looking for a fun way to celebrate Valentine’s Day with the kids I would recommend hitting up Knott’s Berry Farm while the Twogether is Better event is happening this month.  All in all our family had a fun day, but what’s a family outing without a little kid drama….
