RIO 2 Press Event in Miami

Two weeks ago I spent the weekend in Miami for the Rio 2 Press Junket and had a blast seeing the sequel to the wildly popular movie Rio. I attended the first RIO premiere in Los Angeles so I was super excited to be apart of Rio 2 in Miami. I love RIO for the travel and music aspects of the film. These movies have a colorful pulse to them that comes alive on screen that makes you want to get up and move your feet. There is a sophistication about the Rio movies that I love, even though they’re animated films for kids.

The bonus was getting to stay at the swanky Fountainebleau hotel in Miami. This luxury hotel is a famous Miami beach hotel that is a local hot spot on the weekends and has quite the nightlife scene. Fontainebleau is home to LIV, one of the hottest and (hardest to get into) night clubs in Miami.  If you can’t get into LIV then just hang out at in the lobby at Bleau Bar, because that pretty much turns into a club as well. It’s quite the Miami scene, if you know what I mean.

The Fontainebleau is not only for the Miami party crowd, it’s also surprisingly kid friendly, with plenty of restaurant options, a coffee bar, gelato and specialty desserts, you could eat somewhere different every day. The pool area is huge and they even have a specific kids’ pool area and a kids’ club. The pool area leads right to the beach, where they have plenty of lounge chairs for hotel guests.

This is one of those luxury hotels that has a great atmosphere for adults but is still a place you can bring the kids. You might not want to take them down to the lobby past 9 p.m., but this is definitely a hotel I’d go back to with my family.

The after party for the RIO 2 press event was packed with the celebrities from the film including, Anne Hathaway, Kristin Chenowerth, Jaime Foxx, George Lopez, Andy Garcia and Tracy Morgan. It was a full on Samba party!  Janelle Monae even took to the stage to sing the film’s theme song, “What is love” and Jaime Foxx kept the party going all night by dancing on stage with his kids and other kids form the event. They served Brazil’s traditional cocktail the Caipirinha and delicious empanadas, I may have had one too many of both that night!

RIo 2 opens April 11th

I’ll be posting my review of the film and some celebrity interviews soon!
