I just want to do it, I don’t want to talk about it (“it” being motherhood)

“I just want to do it, I don’t want to talk about it”   (“it” being motherhood)

I can’t believe I am doing this, I’m shaking my head in disbelief, I am doing what I have sneared at, criticized and rolled my eyes at….I have started a mom blog!  I can barely say it, for some reason “mom blog” makes me cringe.  Mom’s all over the world, documenting every tear that comes from their child’s precious eyes and broadcasting  every single milestone, tantrum and bowel movement.

Now why would I, a mother of 2 want to finish my day and log onto a mom blog and read about another moms “day at the park”?  I for one would like to read about something other than being a mom, ie; fashion, entertainment, travel, fitness or business, just to name a few.  I love my children more than anything but they are not the only thing in the world that makes me happy.  I have been struggling with finding a balance since my first child was born.   I have always been a very independent person and becoming a mother sure does have a way of suffocating that independence.  I now have 2 beautiful, amazing children and no matter what they will be attached to me forever!

This blog is not just for me to exaggerate every cute thing my kids do, but it will be a place to post non-mom things as well.  There are so many pieces that make up a mom, and I just want to make sure that we don’t ignore a single slice of the pie!

  1. Nice job! I like the last line… but I like to think of it as a dinner table, full of delicious food. There’s the legs of the table that make us strong, the tablecloth that make us beautiful, the spoons/forks/knives for assistance, the bowls and plates for carrying all of our wisdom, and the beautiful family that surrounds.

  2. We are all so much more than wives, mothers, sisters, daughters and friends! Congrats on your new blog! I recently started a new blog to actually document my own life (away from my professional online life) to make into a book for my family. I needed a place to write freely and to explore my humorous side. I have been blogging for professional reasons since 2004. Took the plunge to do it for fun. I look forward to your posts!

  3. Congrats on your first blog! It’s great, and very entertaining!

Good luck with it! My kids are 12 & 15 so I am long past your stage. I started my company 4 years ago, and it was the best thing I ever did! I was scared it would take too much time away from my family, but the work/life balance is always a challenge, no matter what you do!

All the best to you… Jane

  4. It is very true. Mothers do so much and most of us like myself have the Super Woman Syndrome. With all that I do I need to make it my business to make time for me! I don’t want to read about mom duties or looking to be apart of a Super Woman Syndrome Anonymous group. This is one of the reasons why I became a Passion Parties Consultant. Mothers need a reminder that they need girls time together and/or alone. Great first post. I look forward to reading others.

  5. Well done – love your blog, it is so true there are so many pieces that make up a mom and its not easy at times. I found you on twitter and would love to follow your blog but cant find a follow button.

  6. I like it! It is refreshing to see that other also have things to say about their lives other than what the children are doing and how changing underclothing is gross. I like original, multidimensional blogs that are written by women that are also mom’s.

  7. I love the honest way you express yourself!!!!You are growing so much with each thought you put out there to other women.Very inspiring.I thank you !!!
