Peppa Pig can help you embrace winter

The December holidays are only weeks away, and winter lovers have been looking forward to the snow and chillier weather all year. If you need a little encouragement to get into a winter frame of mind — or live in a place where you’re experiencing temperatures closer to swimsuit season than snowsuit season — Candlewick Press wants you to enjoy these precious Peppa Pig books.

Peppa Pig

Peppa Pig sweetly celebrates family

You may have seen Peppa Pig on Nick Jr., and now your kids can enjoy her during story time. My kids relate to Peppa Pig, in part because of the relationship between Peppa and her little brother. Unlike many kids books, Peppa’s adventures generally involve her family members, and Peppa Pig and the Day at Snowy Mountain and Peppa Pig and the Lost Christmas List feature all four members of Peppa’s family.

My own favorite snowy day activities involve curling up with a blanket and a warm beverage, but there’s something magical about spending family time out in the snow. When the little Pig family tries sledding, ice skating, and skiing in Peppa Pig and the Day at Snowy Mountain, all sorts of silliness ensues, making it the perfect book for little ones who love to laugh (Candlewick Press). The book is a fun introduction to winter sports, especially for kids who may be nervous about trying something new — we love seeing Peppa become a better skater as she practices with help from Mummy!

Peppa Pig and the Lost Christmas List

Christmas lists are huge in our house, 50% fueled by my kids’ active imaginations, 37% fueled by the piles of toy-heavy catalogs that start arriving in October, and 13% fueled by scissors, markers, and glitter glue. We’ve had several conversations about making sure Santa sees their “real” lists, and they adored Peppa Pig and the Lost Christmas List, a story centered on what happens when Santa loses his master Christmas gift list (Candlewick Press). Peppa might have to save Christmas, but not until she and her little brother, George, help decorate the extra-large, extra-special tree Daddy chooses.
