American Girl Holiday Giving

Now through December 18, 2014, American Girl will match any doll purchase made online, in-store, or via phone with an 18-inch doll donation (up to 1,000 dolls/day!) to the Children’s Hospital Association. The donation, worth nearly $3 million in retail value, will help bring joy and comfort to thousands of young girls receiving care in any of the association’s 200 member hospitals in the U.S.

To further celebrate the excitement of giving and receiving American Girl this season they invited me to share an unforgettable American Girl moment and by doing so they will donate an Isabelle American Girl Doll to a charity of my choice on my behalf. So clearly, I jumped at the chance to be able to participate in this special Holiday giving moment!

My Unforgettable American Girl Doll Moment

My daughter didn’t have an American Girl doll until a year ago, when my Grandmother passed away. You see, my Grandmother collected them and had about ten sitting perfectly in a room filled with a hundred other collectible dolls from over the years. I was lucky enough to visit my Grandmother and say goodbye before she passed and she told me to pick one of her American Girl Dolls for McKenna. It was a hard thing to have to do, but I was happy that my daughter’s American Girl doll would truly mean something special to her and to me.

McKenna has the American Girl Doll Sage, and this summer Sage came with us on our road trip around the south and while we were in Atlanta, Georgia I surprised McKenna by taking her into the American Girl Doll Store.  We got her dolls hair done, had a lovely time at tea in the American Girl Store Cafe and shopped for some new accessories for her doll. McKenna was so happy and we spent so much time deciding on what new outfit to get her doll, which glasses to get, and we even picked out a new dog! It was a very special mother and daughter afternoon and one I’ll never forget.
