Nothin’ like the holidays in Hollywood: Sunshine, Santas and a Sassy Hotel. This past Saturday afternoon, my family and I found ourselves at the first-ever Santa’s Secret Workshop at the Andaz Hotel in West Hollywood. Deck the fabulous halls: VIPs and celebrities gathered to eat, drink, be merry and just kick back with their families to bring awareness and support L.A. Family Housing (an organization that helps families transition out of homelessness and poverty through various supportive services… visit www.lafh.org).

From the second we walked into the festive suite, the sightings began: Celebrity mom Ali Landry was drop dead beautiful (7 weeks after giving birth!) as she dressed up delicious desserts with her daughter at the Jenny Cookie decorating station… Tori Spelling donned a strikingly-chic black-and-white maxi dress as she wheeled around her newborn daughter in an Orbit stroller… and I got an up-close view of Tiffani Thiessen (sporting wedge ankle boots) with her darling little girl as they tested out a brand new Joovy tricycle. (If I may say, her little one knows how to take off on a bike!) Hollywood dads that showed up with their families included Sean Kanan (“Young & the Restless”) and Gilles Marini (“Brothers & Sisters).

Besides getting a first glimpse at some of the season’s hottest products, the day’s activities also included crafting, face painting and getting decked out by the Children’s Peppermint PLACE Room (www.childrensplace.com) for a picture with Santa in his very own North Pole Photo Studio (pictures were printed onsite with an HP Photosmart 7510 e-All-in-One printer, using HP’s ePrint technology). For the record, my own 1-year old is NOT ready for Santa (she screamed the whole time despite the adorable monkey that the Children’s Place generously gifted her).
In other words, Tinseltown knows how to do the holidays right…. all with the added bonus of giving back to an invaluable cause like L.A. Family Housing. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
