October is already here! I love this time of year for the adorable accessories I can dress my little girl in. Comfy sweaters, fashionable scarves and adorable hats are a few of my favourite items to have an abundance of for my daughter and myself this time of the year. What’s even better is finding handmade versions of these items. There’s something about a hand-knit sweater, scarf or anything really that is irresistible to me. Which is why I’ve rounded up some of my favourite knit Etsy finds for both boys and girls to try this fall. Take a look!
Thumbless Mittens – $15.00
These thumbless mittens from Etsy shop tippytoesknits are an adorable pair that are perfect for infants and babies. You don’t have to try and jam their teeny, uncooperative fingers into the right places like you would with regular gloves/mittens. Just pull them on and keep them warm! A knit pair of mittens is always a must as a baby/child, whether they are knitted by grandma or purchased from an awesome Etsy shop! The colours for this pair are beautiful together, but you can also customize the mittens to be whichever colour combination you like.
Knit Poncho – $42.00
How sweet is this little knit poncho?! The poncho from Etsy shop chicksale is one of my favourite knit finds so far. There’s something about little girls in knit ponchos that is so adorable. I love adding a poncho to my child’s wardrobe because they are so easy to layer clothing with, which is a plus in the fall and winter, and they always give off that warm and snuggly look. It also has a hood, which is nice for some added warmth.
Crochet Fingerless Mittens – $26.00
I remember having a pair of fingerless mittens as a kid, and I absolutely loved them because I was able to do a lot more playing without bulky mittens/gloves in my way. On days where it’s chilly, but you’re not going to get frostbite from exposed skin (not an often occurrence during winter in Canada!), these fingerless mittens from Etsy shop Daisies Crochet are a great accessory. Easily worn for boys and girls, they are crocheted from very soft wool and acrylic yarn. I love the wooden buttons as an accent on the side! These are a great handmade accessory to add to your child’s fall wardrobe!
Knit Scarf – $6.95
Another one of my favourite fall accessories both for myself and my child’s wardrobe is a comfy scarf. Scarves can add a little something extra to an outfit, and having a beautifully knit scarf that will help with warmth as well is a bonus! This pretty green scarf from Etsy shop ella skye designs is a must-have for your little ones fall accessories. Made from super-soft yarn, your little girl or boy will get a lot of wear out of this one. I can just see it paired with a kids trench coat and boots or layered with a cardigan on warmer fall days!
Girls Shawl/Cape – $39.79
If your little girl likes to dress in delicate, traditional-style girls clothing, she will adore this sweet crocheted shawl/cape. Grey is a huge colour for this season, and I love to add it into my child’s wardrobe where I can. This shawl from Dolly Called Topsy would be adorable paired with a heavier fall dress or a pair of jeans and boots. It’s another great layering piece for fall. Add in pops of colour to contrast the grey (maybe a brightly coloured scarf, or the yellow mittens shown above!) and you’ll have a trendsetting tot!
Crochet Beanie – $40.00
Fall is normally a time when deeper, richer hues are worn, but I can’t help but love this adorable brightly-coloured crochet beanie. If you have a child with a love for bright colours, this may very well become their new favourite accessory! This beanie from Etsy shop Knits For Life is made from certified organic cotton and dye. Along with that, shop owner Lorna Watt plants one rainforest tree with every purchase made from her shop! You can feel good about purchasing from this Etsy shop.
Knitted Striped Boys’s Sweater – $50.00
I am loving this bright-coloured boys’ sweater from Etsy shop KriksisLV Knitwear for Children! This orange and turquoise sweater is perfect for any boys who like to make a statement. The felt monster is a really cool detail to this hand-knit sweater. Pair it with a great pair of jeans (and maybe some cool shades) and as easy as that your little dude has an awesome and unique outfit!
