It’s certainly no hidden fact, that it is important to stay healthy by living a healthy lifestyle. For some, it is common sense and comes naturally, whereas for others it can be a bit of a challenge and at times, confusing. You see so many different pieces of advice about fad diets and ridiculous exercise routines that quite frankly, make it impossible to know how simple it can be to live a healthy lifestyle. There are 4 main areas to focus on to stay healthy.

Let’s have a look at the four areas you should be focusing on to stay healthy:

Your Food And Drink

This is an area that causes a lot of confusion, it’s also the one area that people struggle to get right the most. Because there are so many different pieces of information from countless different sources it can be hard to know what is right and wrong. This often leaves people sticking to what they know, even if it’s not the best diet. Your food and drink can, however, be really simple it’s all about balance, not restricting. Make sure you are eating a variety of foods that contain protein, healthy fats, healthy carbs, fiber, fruit, and vegetables. And yes, it can include a treat every now and again. When it comes to drinking, the best thing you can choose is water, ideally, you should be getting around eight glasses fo water a day, simple.

Exercise

Again this is an area that people get confused about. We are supposed to get at least 30 minutes of activity each day, but this doesn’t need to mean you have to sign up to the gym, go for a run, or even lift weights. It just means that you should be doing something that raises your heart rate higher and gets you a little warm and sweaty. It could be cleaning your house, mopping the floors, hoovering the stairs, walking to the shop instead of driving taking the stairs instead of the escalator, and so on.

Your Mental Health

This is one that many people leave off of the list when it comes to a healthy lifestyle. It is vitally important for you to not only monitor but actively look after your mental health. If you’re not feeling quite right think about ways you can boost your mood. Things, like talking to loved ones, exercising, and eating right, can go a long way to helping with this.

Regular Check-Ups

As well as looking after the above three areas, you should be making sure you are getting regular check-ups from relevant professionals. These include the doctor for a physical test, your dentist to monitor the health of your teeth, your gynecologist, and your opticians. If you wear glasses or have braces etc then these visits may need to be even more regular.

Living a healthy lifestyle and keeping on top of your health doesn’t need to be over-complicated, in fact, the more simple you keep it the more successful you will be at it. Is there anything that you do to keep on top of your health? Please share them in the comments.
