When the Oprah Show calls you at the Grocery Store!

In Uncategorized by savvysassymoms62 Comments

My husband and IΒ  had just done some grocery shopping and had lunch.Β  I convinced him to take the groceries home while I sat down in the Wi- Fi lounge at Whole Foods to check my e-mails, tweet Oprah Magazine in bagand blog.

As I checked my e-mail I saw something strange, an e-mail from the Oprah Winfrey Show. (What kind of scam is this I wondered?)Β  I read the e-mail and then called my husband, an online marketing guru, nothing gets past him!Β  He had me forwardΒ the e-mailΒ to him andΒ it passed his inspection and seemed to be official.Β Β I tryed not to pee my pants and I called the number listed.Β  (What would they want with me?)

I then proceded to pace up and down the Wi-Fi lounge chatting with one of the producers, about motherhood (and how much I can’t stand a lot of it)Β  I have never been one toΒ suger coat my feelings about being a mom, and I am very open about my struggles I have had with it.Β  Our conversation ended and I thought, I am probably not the mom they are looking for but WOW that was kinda neat!Β  I started to put together an e-mail of the information she requested and figured that would be the end of that.Β  (I’m sure they were talking to 100 moms)

However, 20 minutes later I get another call and talked to another producer.Β Β  She asked me some more questions and I felt I was answering from the heart and with real honesty.Β  Pacing once again up and down the cafe at Whole Foods. Β I am sure the people around me wereΒ thinking “Sit down and shut up!”Β  My heart is beating and I begin to sweat and I’m wondering ifΒ  the air conditioning is on, because gosh it sure isΒ warm in here.

At this point I get that tingly feeling all over and begin to think, something is happening here.Β  I get off the phone for about 10 minutes and then I get one last call, and this call is to tell me that they have chosen me to be apart of an upcoming show!Β  And can you be on a plane tomorrow at 10:00 am?

Let me check my calender…..Um, YES!

AiringΒ  this Wednesday, October 7th !!!!

  1. Wow, that’s awesome congrats!! Sorry being a mom has been so hard for you… That kinda sucks. But hey, if that brought you to Oprah it can’t be that bad right?

Hopefully it’s not like the other episode that pratically scared me out of being a mom!

  3. Congrats!! You’ll have to let everyone know what it was like. And for the people at Whole Foods you should’ve just said “DO YOU KNOW WHO I’M TALKING TO? OPRAH!! The woman who needs NO last name, the woman who has been talking showing it up for 2 decades, the woman who picks Presidents & books. You know OPRAH!!” Then danced up and down aisles while screaming OPRAH’S ON. But then again I can get a little carried away, so maybe it’s good you didn’t do that:D

  4. Congratulations, I’ll be watching. 5 minutes of fame is better than nothing, have a fab time :O)

I interviewed The Hungry Girl on camera and I was a nervous wreck. Plus my kids kept running the room, so unprofessional!! I’ll watch you on the 7th. πŸ™‚

  23. Just caught your segment on Oprah. Thank you for sharing your insights and for having the courage to be vulnerable and real about what you were feeling. Always reminds me that even on my worst day, there are millions of people who would love to have my problems. Great reminder to be grateful and grow every single day.

  25. Hey Andrea,
I’m a ‘Harris’ fan, and now – an ‘Andrea’ fan!

Quite cool! And I watched the video of you on Oprah’s site.
How long did the butterflies last during filming.

I’m supposed to be a ‘veteran’ having been on the Jenny
Jones Show, CNN, the radio for quite a few years as well as
having done ‘voice acting’ (voice-overs) for 5 or so films,
and each time is as bad as the first for me…..

Kudos! A great video & I’ll look forward to watching you.

    Regards,

  26. Andrea, as someone who deals with busy moms all the time as a marketing and managment consultant in the direct selling industry, I know their struggles. I faced many challenges years ago when I started my firm when my son was young. I am very grateful that my love for him was so overwhelming that I always put him first and still was able to forge ahead with my business. It’s difficult but it can be done. I hope your interaction with Stephanie, who is so courageous, will allow you to experience the true joy that children can bring into your life.

    Best wishes, Debbi

  29. Can’t wiat to hear your update and about how Oprah treats her guests. I’ve heard things in the past about her off camera behavior.

    COngratultions on your appearance.

  30. Wow, you did a beautiful job of capturing the things she’s lost, that you and we all take for granted. Nicely done– very poignant.

  31. Dear Andrea

Am harris JV partner on adswap project and future project. Am so surprised hearing that you would be called to be on OPRAH. Congratulations and remember to enjoy the O moment every single time. Second I know am closer for my dream is one of thme to get on OPRAH too. I live on the other side of country where people heard a lot about it from MEDIA but I know that I get there someday πŸ™‚

Thanks Harris & Andrea. It is so good to give the new hope that everybody can be on OPRAH πŸ™‚

  32. Andrea,
I never met you, but being the wife of Harris, who is my favorite Internet Marketing “Star” because he treated me like a person long before I was making any headway in this business and that really encouraged me. Now Harris inspires me in so many ways because he has a terrific family, and you can see how proud he is of you for being yourself, and not being forced into conformity!

Keep up the inspiring activities, you two!

    Micheal

  33. Hi Andrea,

I guess that’s what is called “being at the right place at the right time.” I’ve watched many of “Oprahs” shows with enthusiasm. However; I’m sorry to say I didn’t get to see the show you were on. I’m sure being asked to be on her show was an incredible moment for you and speak your mind with Oprah in front of thousands of listening viewers. Now that’s quite incredible, wouldn’t you say?

  34. Hi, I enjoy your article. This is a good site and I wanted to post a comment to let you know, good job! Thanks kim
