For every pair of shoes purchasesd at Marshalls October 1-15, $1.00 will be donated to the National Domestic Viloence Hotline, which provides crisis intervention and referral to victims, their families and friends.
I was invited to attend this event and I’m honored to spread the word about Domestic Violence. This is one of the easiest ways that you can take a stand against domestic violence, all you have to do is Go Buy Some Shoes!
Tim Gunn of “Project Runway,” Laura Leighton of “Melrose Place” took a stand against Domestic Violence on October 1st in Santa Monica, where they helped kick off the “Shop Til it Stops” partnership between Marshalls and The National Domestic Violence Hotline.
The Third Street Promonade hosted the exhibit, which was comprised of six unique arches, and featured information about the cause along with some sobering statistics.
One in four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime.
Approximatley 15.5 million children are exposed to domestic violence every year
Boys who witness domestic violence are twice as likely to abuse their own partners and children when they become adults
On the average, more than three women are murdered by their husbands or boyfriends every day
After the event I was able to have a conversation with TIm Gunn! I told him that I was an FIDM Alum and that I loved watching Project Runway. He told me that he has had such a great time filming at FIDM and that the school has been incredible to everyone.
We also agreed that educating young girls and empowering them with self respect could help in possibly preventing domestic violence. Tim Gunn was so nice, genuine and very easy to talk to. He is proud to be apart of this organization and wants everyone to know,
Domestic Violence is “Your Business.”
