So just like any mom this summer, I am always looking for things to fill up the day. The last thing I want to do is stay inside with two toddlers that fight over where they sit on the couch, who gets the green playdoh, or why Hudson got 4 apple slices and McKenna only got 3. It seems the day goes much better for all involved if we have a plan and get out and do something – anything!
It was Tuesday, and Tuesdays at The Americana at Brand are a great place to spend a day! The first thing that will make you smile is the Free parking (M-Thur), no validated ticket to worry about and no cash to put out. The Americana puts on a “Kids Klub on the Green “ every tuesday morning from 11-1 and it is usually a kids concert/performance of some sort. This week was Twinkle Time, a band of happy clown like performers. There is also a big Water Show set to music that the kids love to watch (think Bellagio in Vegas) and if the wind is just right you’ll be cooled off with some refreshing mist. And if that wasn’t enough there is even a small Kids Playground with big comfy chairs for the parents to sit and relax (well, until your kid throws sand).
Next we ride the Trolley that circles the entire outdoor mall so you can oogle all the high-end shops and children’s boutiques. After the trolley it is off to lunch and many of the resturants participate in the Kids Klub tuesdays and offer either kids eat free, or receive a free cheese pizza with a purchase of an entree etc.. Now, if this is enough excitment for you and your little ones, just pack up and head home. But if everyone seems to be up for one more round of fun, there is a huge Barnes & Noble that has a great kids section so you can cool off and read some books.
I dread the typical mall and I dread the mall with kids – but this is no mall! The Americana at Brand is so kid friendly, it is as if they planned it that way! With all the high-end shops and luxury stores you would think it should scream “NO kids allowed”, instead they designed a classy place where moms want to go and kids are welcome!

Happy SITS day! I am enjoying your blog as I catch up (from how late I am you can tell I need some organizational tips lol.) I like the Americana at Brand! It kind of reminds me of The Grove. You can really hang out and spend time there with kids – benches, place to buy snacks, bathrooms, etc etc.
