NY Fashion Week continues with the Hakan Akkaya Spring 2018 collection, shown at the Gallery 11 At Skylight Clarkson Square. We shared in the show’s anticipatory vibe — and weren’t disappointed.
The runway showcases a prism of looks for both menswear and womenswear. Through the use of black and white, Akkaya accomplishes a transformative line. Forward-thinking dressers can glean pieces from both the menswear and womenswear collections.
Oversized, slouchy and powerful pieces easily suited a variety of models. My immediate reaction? I wonder if it comes in my size.
The collection ultimately explores freedom in dress. It questions our willingness to be independent in our fashion choices. Womenswear can be seen on a variety of silhouettes, a signicant shift in the visibility of the fashion industry. Personal style helps us build a connection between the experience and the collection, while questioning our independence in fashion choices.
Buckles, straps, pockets, ruching and asymmetical lines dominate the Hakan Akkaya collection. We appreciate the true nuance of styles in both the menswear and womenswear collections.
The high fashion collection reimagines femininity with chic wearable silhouettes. The pieces, punctuated with stripes and zebra prints, revolutionize the thin line between masculine and feminine.
What pieces of clothing can you share with your significant other?
